James Blackfire | 2 comments I read somewhere that Zafon is working on a final book sequel to the prisoner of heaven but I am wondering if that was the short prequel set during the spanish inquisition or if there is another full length novel in the works. anyone have any info on that?

The Rose of Fire is a very, very short prequel. It is on Kindle only, but is free from Amazon. You can download a free Kindle reader for you laptop.

It is very short and almost seems like there is more to be written for that prequel point in time.

I remember reading on the author's webpage that he had 4 books envisioned. Ppl might take that to mean there is still one unfinished. He also said that the series is meant to be approached from any point. In other words, it doesn't matter which book you start with. Thinking about the books, this seems to be true. And the beauty of it is that you would get a completely different perspective if you started, for example, with PoH and then read The Angel's Game, then SotW.

PS - If you haven't read Marina, then that will hold you over. It has just recently been translated into English (I read it in Spanish). It is not a "cemetery" book, but has a similar gothic feeling although more of a horrific part in it's action climax. I liked it much better than his early YA novels.

Eliseo | 1 comments I was a huge fan of Marina. I was wondering if they'd ever translate it as well. I recently picked up the Spanish edition of The Prince of the Mist and I'll be getting to that once I have the time.
Thanks for bringing up The Rose of Fire, Badger! I had no idea it existed. I'm definitely going to download it later.
Here's hoping he does write a fourth book soon. PoH was so short, but enjoyable.

Hello Monica,
I'm a huge fan too. I like all the books, but still think SotW is the best. One of the things I liked about it was that the seemingly supernatural elements turned out to be real later in the story. It gave it a certain realism. Julian Carax, for example. It seemed like he was a ghost or figment of Daniel's imagination, but later turned out to be a real person.

That was the reason I was disappointed with 'The Angel's Game' the first time I read it. I kept waiting for there to be a real explanation for the Devil/Coreli, but it never came. I read it a second time and enjoyed it much better. I now see all 3 books as intertwined.

I also don't really think the series focuses on the Cemetery of Lost Books. That is just an element. For me SotW is all about the intertwined lives and complex relationships. The city, Barcelona, also seems to be part of the story; one of the characters.

Eliseo,
Yes, PoH seemed to me to be a "transitional" book in the series. One that is setting up the action for what is to come. I hope there's another one and then we'll see how that fits in.

Sue | 57 comments I am sure CRZ is busily working on the 4th book. Of course, with the other books coming out, he's got that to deal with......

Badger, you mention entertwined lives: In SOTW, Vals' family is mentioned 'very' briefly, yet he figures in POH. Rosiito is a very minor character in SOTW, yet her character is 'filled out' in POH. I have a feeling that Daniel's father may get some more spotlight, especially given what Daniel has learned about his mothers' death, etc.

Does anyone believe that David Martin will resurface in Book 4?

Good points Monica. CRZ did set the bar very high with SotW.
