Aladdin pulled open the door to the book store. He stepped aside so Jasmine could enter first. He was glad that she was letting him do this.
Jasmine stept inside, past Aladdin, with a smile. She took a deep breath. The whole place smelled of paper ink and coffee. It was a small little shop but it reminded her of her favorite shop back home.
Aladdin let the door fall shut behind him and took Jasmine's hand. He looked around the shop. It was small but it wasn't too small and it seemed to have a good variety of books. "Where do you want to start?" He asked gesturing to the stacks.
Jasmine ran her hand along the backs of the spines gently. She turned and grabbed Aladdin's hand tugging him deeper into the small shop.
He let her pull him deeper in the shop smiling the whole way. "Is there anything specific that you wanted?" He asked.
Jasmine pulled him towards the fantasy section. "Alana, Alana." She mumbled, letting go of his hand and running her finger over the books. Finally she found the one she was looking for. "Robert Alana." She pulled the first book off the shelf of her father's. She handed it to Aladdin. "Here, read the dedication."
Aladdin took the book from her hands carefully. He opened the book to its dedication and read it. When he finished he looked up at Jasmine. "This is your dads?"
Jasmine smiled and nodded, taking the book back from him, she read the inscription. "It was the one we worked on together. He always said I had more writer's ability in my little finger than he had in his whole body." Jasmine closed the book. "It was one of his bestsellers."
Aladdin looks down at the book in her hand again. I'm going to buy it he thought. He wanted to read her and her father's work. That book is apart of her and he wanted to know her. All of her.
"But enough about that, I just wanted you to see it. I've read it a million times over." Jasmine gazed around the store a bit. "I'm going to go look for something I haven't read before." She began to move away. "Are you coming?"
Aladdin nodded but took the book from her and tucked it under his arm. He waved his arm in an after you gesture.
Jasmine led him in another direction but she had noticed that he hadn't put her father's book back. She would prefer if he didn't read it. There were a few character's in that book that might not go over so well with him. It had been mostly her father's idea but Aladdin wouldn't know that. Anyone who knew her would see the resemblance. "Here we are." She began browsing authors and reading covers.
Aladdin stood behind her and paged through her fathers book. It would take him some time but he wanted to read it. He looked up from the book and saw her browsing the shelves. "Is there anything specific that you're looking for? I can help you find it." He said.
"Not really. I was just looking for a book I haven't read yet." She reached and grabbed a book who's cover caught her eye. It was some sort of paranormal romance about fallen angels. She read the inside cover. This one looked good. "Found something." She grinned.
Aladdin peeked at the cover. It didn't look like something he would ever read. He smiled at Jasmine, happy that she had found something she wanted. "Is that all? Did you want anything else?" He asked.
((It's okay. And sorry I haven't answered yet. I just saw that you posted.))"I think that's all." She smiled a bit shyly as he examined the cover. It was a romance after all and that could look a bit strange.
((It's okay:)))Aladdin smiled and took her hand. He led her to the cash register and paid for both of their books. "Where to now?" He asked putting his wallet back in his pocket.
"How about we go sit in that little coffee shop cafe." Jasmine suggests. "It looked adorable. Unless you'd rather go back to school." She suggested quickly.
He laughed. "I have no desire to go back to shook anytime soon." He said walking towards the door. "Plus this is your day. You get to plan on how we spend it." He didn't care what they did as long as he was with her.
Jasmine smiled at him as she stepped inside. It was warm and smelled of coffee and vanilla. She slipped off her scarf and scanned the hand written menu board. "This place reminds me of home." She whispered to Aladdin happily.
He smiled. "Good." He said kissing her forehead. He was glad he could bring her to a place that made her happy like this. "What do you want to order? You can get anything." He scanned the menu with her.
Jasmine giggled a bit. "Okay, but don't laugh at this." She told him. "My favorite drink is a vanilla latte with Cinnamon in it." She looked at him for his response."
Aladdin smiled down at her. Of course that was her favorite drink. "And you were baffled when I told you that you always smelled like vanilla and cinnamon."
"Well it's not like I drink it every day and you didn't say I smell like coffee." Jasmine made a thinking face. "Really by all logic that's what I should smell like."
"But you smell like vanilla and cinnamon which is what your coffee is made of so by all intense and purposes you smell exactly how you're supposed to." He said grinning.
"Don't go trying to confuse me with your tricky reasoning and adorable smile." Jasmine chastised him. "What are you going to get?"
He laughed. "I don't do it on purpose." He said in mock innocence. He shrugged. "I'm not sure yet. Maybe a pumpkin spiced latte."
"You certainly do it on purpose." Jasmine told him. "But that's okay cause you're cute and I love you." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Mmmmmm, pumpkin. That's my favorite seasonal flavor."
He smiled. "You know me too well." He said. He dropped and arm on her shoulders and stepped up to the cashier. He order their drinks and then looked for an open table.
Normally Jasmine was self conscious in public. Even when she went out with Cameron she wouldn't let him touch her but things were different here. She slipped into an empty table right by the front window where she could look out on the street and sighed in contentment, taking a sip of her coffee.
Aladdin sat across from her and too a sip of his latte. They got it just right and the flavors tasted just like home. He looked out the window and saw a lot of students from school meandering down the street:
Jasmine, almost subconsciously, kept an eye out for anyone who might recognize her. She knew very few people from school but apart from Ariel she wouldn't want to run into any of them. "So, how do you like this new life of yours so far?" Jasmine asked him.
Aladdin turned his gaze from outside and focused on Jasmine. "You really have to ask?" He asked her. "This life is so much better than before. I'm not living on the streets and you're here with me. What more could I ask for?"
"Well I suppose I could have guessed but it still sounds good hearing you say it." Jasmine smiled at him. She reached across the table and took his hand. "Now all we have to do is keep you grades up." She grinned.
He laughed. "And you will be my tutor." He said. He could probably pass his classes without help but if Jasmine tutored him it would give him an excuse to spend even more time with her.
"Yeah, of course. Unless I see that you don't need my help." Jasmine raised an eyebrow at him. She didn't believe that he was as hopeless in school as he said he was.
"Well then I suppose I'll just have to devote hours of my time to make you unhopeless, then." Jasmine smiled and took another sip of her drink.
He smirked. "Well I can't say no to that." He teased. "Countless hours spent with the girl I love? That's heaven."
"You'd better take this seriously." She warned but there was a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. Like she would ever not help him, she wanted to spend time with him just as much.
He nodded in mock seriousness. "Of course. I wouldn't want to waste your precious time." He said trying to keep a straight face and failing.
"Yeah, my time is really precious." Jasmine said in a mocking voice. She spent all of her time doing school and reading. If it weren't for Ariel and a few calls from Cameron she would probably have no human interaction. She had too much time on her hands.
He smirked. "Well now it will be filled up with me." He said drinking his coffee. It had cooled off a little in the time they had sat there.
Jasmine couldn't stop the goofy grin and the warm feeling she got when he said that. It was so different for her, feeling like this, she barely knew what to do about it.
He grinned at her goofy smile. He loved when she smiled at him and warmth unfurled in chest. "I love you." He said. He wanted to make sure she knew undoubtedly that he loved her with his whole being.
"I love you to." Jasmine said softly. "Always have, always will." She assured him, squeezing his hand gently.
He smiled and squeezed her hand. He was content to sit there all day. "Are you hungry?" He asked surveying the sidewalks again.
