Carlisle Cullen walked down the ice covered sidewalk, he wore a light gray turtleneck sweater and a black, gray, and white striped scarf that hung loosely around his neck. His baseball bat was hung over his shoulder, the snow fell and hit his ice cold skin, it made some people suspicious that it didn't melt when it touch him.
Cassandra thanked the kind shop owner and smiled in her direction. She shut the door and pulled her coat, tightly over her warm skin. The white snow fell in uncomfortable clumps around her. She continued through the sidewalk, attempting to not slip.
He saw a girl walk out of one of the shops and noticed she was trying not to slip. Carlisle smiled to himself as he watched her, humans. He said in his mind and shook his head continuing to walk.
Cassandra glanced up at the sky and sneezed as a thick piece of snow fell on her face. She smiled and noticed a man; he was walking in the opposite direction of her. He was very handsome but she flipped her wet hair out of her face. She was unbothered by his appearance. She was surprised to notice a bat in his hand. Keeping her eyes down she continued to walk past him.
Carlisle stopped her. "Excuse me, I am so sorry to bother you." He smiled politely at her, "but you look like you were having a hard time walking. I was wondering if I might carry something for you?"
Cassandra grabbed her bag, tightly. "No. I'm fine." She said worried he might steal it. She slowly began walking away. She meant to quickly leave but she slipped. Her bag fell and she went with it, falling to the floor.
Carlisle caught her before she hit the ground as well as her bag. "I told you," he said smiling and held her up handing her her bag. "Be more careful next time," he felt her wince away from his cold skin.
Cassandra reached to grab her bag. "Thank you, and I'm sorry." She apologized silently. His skin was unnaturally cold but she assumed it was the snow.
"No need to be sorry," he said and flashed her a gorgeous smile. "Are you sure I can't help you with anything?" He asked again picking up his baseball bat and leaning it on his shoulder.
Cassandra smiled at the strange man. He seemed considerate. Grabbing her bag she took another step forward. She held the wall for blind support, the ground was slippery. “I would actually appreciate the help.” Cassie finally said giving up.
Carlisle smiled and held out his hand for her bag and offered her his arm for her to lean on so she could keep her balance. "And I would do you the pleasure of helping you," he told her and looked at her with those eyes of his.
Cassandra felt herself look away from his gaze. His eyes were an unusual golden color. She grabbed his arm but didn’t flinch at his cold touch again; his skin was covered by a thin fabric. It expressed his muscular arms and chest very well. “Thank you.” She said, feeling her cheeks redden. She concentrated on the snow covered ground, carefully placing her feet.
Carlisle smiled noticing her blush, "you're welcome." He said and walked with her slowly not getting tired of having her lean on him or from carrying her bag. He looked around at the snow-covered streets and sidewalks. "Beautiful day today isn't it?" He asked nonchalantly.
Cassandra nodded looking around the street. "It is isn't it." She agreed. She liked the snow. It was pretty as long as it didn't land on your house or the side walk.
"I love snow," he shrugged his shoulders. "And the rain," Carlisle ran his fingers through his hair with the hand that was holding her bag.
"I don't really like the sun though," he admitted thinking she would think that was strange. "It's just too warm," he gestured to his pale skin. "I'm never outside when its out."
Cassandra nodded. She liked the sun but it wasn't a surprise he didn't. "That seems understandable." She smiled
He raised an eyebrow, "that is something I don't hear very much." He smiled, "none of my family hear that at all actually."
Cassie looked away from him. "Alright..." She said not understanding what he meant. She saw her apartment approach in the distance.
Carlisle let his eyes wander, he looked at the sky, the road, the buildings surrounding him, never at the sidewalk.
Cassandra looked up at him. "You seem very steady on your feet." She appraised him quietly. "I'm Cassandra." She introduced.
Carlisle smiled. "Yes," he nodded and looked down at her. "I am Carlisle, Carlisle Cullen. It is a pleasure."
Cassandra nodded and finally reached her house. "Thank you for the help." She said grabbing the railing. She let go of his arm and took her bag.
Carlisle smiled. "Of course," he nodded. "It helps being a doctor, you don't ever want to see anyone get hurt." He turned to walk away the icy sidewalk doing absolutely nothing to him as it would a human.
Cassie walked up her door step and unlocked her door. She dropped her bag onto the wooden ground. She sighed and sat against the wall.
Before she could turn around Carlisle disappeared, he was running home. When he got there he decided to go hunting and he went back home when he finished.
Going into his office Carlisle took out a book about the French Revolution and started to read knowing he could finish it in an hour.
After he finished his book Carlisle opened his computer and started to do some research on a topic he had suddenly become interested in.
Cassandra didn't awaken until the next morning. She sighed into her pillow, unwilling to get up.
Carlisle stood up and walked over to the window looking out at it. He went outside and walked into town again.
Cassandra finally decided to get up. She got showered and dressed. She left her house and began walking down the side walk again. She felt uncomfortably bored.
The snow was still on the ground, it had actually snowed more through the night. All Carlisle wore was a light gray T-shirt, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. He knew that if anyone saw him dressed this way they would immediately become suspicious.
He sighed as he walked feeling lonely as he walked. Carlisle looked up at the sky as more snow fell and hit his skin and his hair and didn't melt like it would on human skin.
Looking up Carlisle saw the girl he had met the day before, he smiled to himself. Don't fall, he said in his mind and continued walking not paying any attention to the sidewalk.
Cassandra managed to stay steady on her feet today, luckily for her. She kept a light hand on a nearby brick wall just in case she fell.
Carlisle looked up at the tree as snowflakes fell and hit him, his bare arms felt nothing neither did his face. One of the snowflakes fell into his eye but he blinked it away with some difficulty and continued walking looking straight ahead of him.
Cassandra looked up and saw Carlisle. She frowned as she watched him. Nothing melted off of his skin. He didn't even seem bothered by the cold at all.
