My account has moved from US to Australia. Previously the prices were in US dollars and all the exchange fees etc were added (according to my statements) whereas now the price is in AUD and that figure appears on my statements. So, yes I have changed over and, so far, noticed no difference. I guess any crunch will come if ever items are designated for a specific locale for distribution.

Thanks for that. I never had the option of buying via the US store. I was automatically linked to the UK store. What I'm mostly concerned about is, as you say, not being able to get books that would be available in the UK or US.
I'm not entirely sure what happens with the stuff I already have, but I could at least look that up..

I moved over from US store to OZ. I haven't lost anything I already had. I think the main thing is I will no longer see "this is unavailable in your region" (which always really annoyed me) ... Not because it is available, just that it won't show up. On the other hand, I have often had to get US e-versions of Australian books that aren't available in e- format here (very frustrating!) so I tend to stooge around looking at formats other than kindle (the advantage of reading on an ipad)

Naturally, I am suspicious.
Has anyone taken Amazon up on their offer of "local stores"? Anyone noticed any differences, or issues with accessing new titles or previous purchases?
