Anna (aetm) | 192 comments Oh my.
I have beome badly addicted to Lilyhammer.

Imagine a guy escape from Sopranos into the middle of nothing in a small city in Norway... with a ton of humor like in the Headhunters, with proper drama, and with a bunch of funny Norwegian hillbillies around there... yes, give me 12 more seasons of it now! :)

Two seasons in Netflix now.

Dalia | 22 comments Overall I enjoyed Lilyhammer but I would have liked it more if Frank wasn't such a bully- it would have been more funny if he wasn't in the wrong so many times! (especially with innocents such as the guy who owned the eco-farm) That said I admit to "bingeing" on both seasons last week via Netflix.....

Andy Only watched a few episodes of the first series & didnt much like it really, would have worked jus as well in the States or Canada ie big city guy goes to rural town in sticks - didn't find it very Norwegianesque at all - well apart from the Moonshine & illegal liquor bits!

None of the immigration/sanctuary storylines and the conflict between government policies and social norms would have worked in US/Canada as neither is as homogeneous as Norway. I thought the reindeer races were hilarious also!

Andy Can't say I came across it that much when i was over there ;0 car racing on Ice maybe!

Anna (aetm) | 192 comments I haven't seen the raindeer races part yet.
I love the Norwegian or Scandinavian idea all the new characters (and people) have, that of there being no corruption, and everything working so hunky dory all the time and everywhere (one of the reasons I would not want to live in Scandinavia; I can't stand when everything comes prepackaged and pre-explained and prethought in life). Once that gets broken it gets better. Jan is one of the good examples in the series.
And Frank, I mean Giovanni, is just brilliant - his manager and business sense, plus making Norway work for him.
I did mention the series to a Swedish friend recently. He's seen a few episodes and can't stand it as he feels it's embarrassing. I find it just cute. The mentality (everything should work, everything done by government etc), the cute Norwegian hillbillies (esp. Torgeir)... Maybe a short course for anyone's future life in Scandinavia.
