Jenni's 2014 list

Mine's at 16 too. But on the other group site...the book addicts site...they are allowing up to 16 this year. SO....I think 16's OK if you do. I love that you are reading Lolita! Gorgeous writing on such a repulsive subject. UGH. It's like reading a tangible oxymoron. I decided on reading Eye of the Needle for Follett. Though he as 2 books previous to that they are not rated very high and even Follett himself says they are not very good. Looks like Eye of the Needle was his first real break out book. I'm going to start there. Let me know when you start Cryptonomicon. I'm dying to read it though it's a chunker!
Sounds good, I'll switch to Eye of the Needle! I think I'll stick with 16 books, and hopefully read all of them. I should get this list up on the Book Addicts site! :)
Thanks Sonja! Since Book Addicts has the 16 now, 12+4, I'm sticking with that. 13 through 16 are my alternates just because I'm too lazy to rearrange the order, and because I really want to read them all next year. :)
Another one I really struggled with putting on my list was The Golem and the Jinni....I really want to read that and it is getting excellent buzz and reviews....
Pam, that book looks like it has potential. Goodreads currently has a giveaway for that one... so I signed up for it. Pointless though since I have't won anything for a few years... :)
well...I just signed up for it too so if I win by chance...(and it's been years for me too...) I'll pass it on to you for sure! I don't know what it is that intrigues me about it but it just does. The reviews are awesome...and what a neat subject!
4 down and reading 2 right now! :) I might actually complete this challenge this year. Pam, are you thinking of reading Eye of the Needle anytime soon? I'd love to read that book with you... I have all year though, so I'm in no rush.
I am reading King's 11/22/63 right now and really liking it! I think after this, I'll need to read a smaller one. Eye of the Needle would be just the right size methinks!!! I'm always up for Ken Follett. I'm sure I'll be there or there soon when we meet for Once! Can't wait! We'll catch up soon about that weekend. I must tell you.....I'm dying to start Eye of the World too. It's awesome isn't it? Everyone tells me so......and usually once that gets out there they also comment about Stephen King's Gunslinger books. I might have to consider that in the near future....but I really want to start Eye of the World and the Kingkiller Chronicles. I need a new series.......both are supposed to be brilliant....
I have Sammi reading Stephen King's The Talisman. Can you believe she has NEVER read a King to this date? (gasp!)

Sammi! Ah well, better late than never, right? So Pam, what is your favorite King book? I can read Eye of the Needle at any point, so just let me know. :) (Eye of the World was AWESOME, you must read that!)
So what's the date of Once? Is it the 26th or 27th I'm thinking? I'll need to let Sonja know asap. THANKS! :)

I'm glad I was wrong and we haven't missed it! It would be good to know the date so I can make sure not to plan something else for that day.
I'm with Sammi... I haven't really read much by King. Just Hearts in Atlantis and The Green Mile. None of the ones he's really known for... I'll have to get on it!

As for me....without looking at his book list....I think I've read a LOT of King. Off the cuff and with no real thinking my favorite book of his is IT. And I love it because it is SOOOOOO unbelievable that someone can actually think up and WRITE THAT DOWN!!!!! O-M-G! That book left me speechless. The movie doesn't hold a candle to the actual book. My next favorite chunker of his is The Talisman....which I see now is actually #1 of a series of 2. Now I MUST MUST MUST re-read The Talisman so I can read #2 Black House. I'm dying to start!!! Need to work on my list first.....(arghh)...and my personal, ultimate love like a tattoo on my arm or a seal on my heart....I LOVE LOVE LOVED......Christine. LOVE that book. It's one of his earlier ones...and his early writing is so cool....it's a great dude book and one that you can listen to in the car with the hubby. I recall doing that once with a guy....(not the hubby)....but....you get my drift.....
5 books read from my list, and am currently reading book 6. WOOT!
Pam, I'm going to have to put a King book on my list! I need to look through what I've read of his, which isn't much, and then ask your opinion!

Arguably, his most beloved and talked about book is The Stand. WHICH I have started but not finished. Not sure why though I like it...maybe post-apocalyptic horror isn't my thing? I will finish it though. I just checked my book.....and it still has my book mark in it....LOL!!! It's a chunker.
I would suggest The Talisman or IT for chunkers and since Sammi is loving The Talisman...I think that verifies that it's a good one. I love that it's the first of 2....I didn't know! Now I have to read them BOTH (again). As for the smaller ones....I loved Christine. Pet Sematery is awesome too...and I recall really enjoying The Dead Zone too. And they are some of his earlier ones. I love his short stories too....especially The Body, The Langoliers, The Shawshank Redemption and The Library Police. He's just so macabre you can't help but be fascinated by him.
I really need to get into The Gunslinger series of his. I've heard SO MUCH about it.......

YAY!!! I think you'll finish the list this year!!! I'm already making out my list for next year....getting ideas for sure. The Talisman #1 and 2 are going to be on it for sure.....I think....oh...you know how this process goes....
Pam, I'm also working on my list! I have a spreadsheet that I started last week. :) We should start a thread for 2015 ideas... I like to steal your books.
I just finished Lolita, and have just started listening to And the Mountains Echoed. I think that I'm going to complete this list!!
I'M STILL READING!!! This might be the first year I don't finish my list. UGH. If I could just get some sitting time to READ!!!! I love my book....just need time to READ!!!! OY!
