Thanks for this nomination! It means a lot to know my work has even made it to be a nominee. :-) I love fairy tales and wanted to share my love for them by writing my take on a few classics, there are more to come, but I plan to have the next few out end of this year.
I'm half way through this now. Interesting Red Riding Hood but I did think it could be expanded a bit. Cinderella type story was good. On Snow White now.
Well, I liked some of it. Stories with twisted morals are not easy to write and I think only the Cinderella story truly pulled it off. I liked the modern setting of Red, though. More could have been made of that.
It's a pretty shot book (51 pages). Do you think that suited the style, or would you have preferred it to be longer?
I agree, I would have liked more. The ending of some were a bit abrupt. I enjoyed it for what it was though. All the fairy tale retelling's I've read so far have been short.

The first tale had a bit more to it (which I liked), yet the one I thought worked best was a lot shorter. The original fairy tales are quite simple stories, so there's plenty of scope for experimentation. (The first story I self-published was a light-hearted sci-fi version of Cinderella at about 8,000 words.) Personally, I find writing short stories difficult and I'm deeply in awe of anyone who can pull off a satisfying short read.
I agree with you entirely. I've been trying to write a couple of late and it's much harder than I anticipated.
