Yay! Thanks. I am looking forward to reading this book. It has been on my to-read shelf for a long time.

Tachi | 87 comments Ikr!! What makes the romance interesting is that it features a zombie. AND IT'S DYSTOPIAN!!:D

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah this book sounds really interesting!!!

message 5: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments OMG I'm going to try to join! I hope I can!

Tachi | 87 comments Sure you could!!:D

message 7: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments lol I have so many buddy reads but I'm going to try. I think I can I think I can :D

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha!! The little train that could! I hope you can join us :)

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I am really looking forward to starting this tomorrow!! Does anyone have any preferred number of pages or chapters to read? Or would everyone prefer to just read at our own pace, and discuss when we can?

message 10: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments wow, looks like there are 38 chapters
we can come back every 5 chapters or so and check in?

that's about 75-80 pages....

I'm good either way
but I do have 3 buddy reads starting tomorrow so I may be zipping right through it....but I plan to update so we can chat with each other :)

I can't wait. I'm so excited for this one!

message 11: by Tachi (last edited Jan 03, 2014 06:46PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tachi | 87 comments I'm okay with either way. But what if it gets to good that we can't put it down?? That sometimes happens to me.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay so we can check in every 5 chapters or so, but if you happen to read more, then we can check in at some point and discuss what we have read.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I am starting this book right now!! I will check in after 5 chapters.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

So I am halfway through chapter 5 right now, and I think the book is okay so far. Although I am hoping the pace picks up a bit.

(view spoiler)

Anyway, I am just hoping that the story picks up a bit in pace. I think it is pretty good from what I have read so far, although I am not that into zombie books, so I won't be that disappointed if it isn't that good.

How far is everyone into this book?

Tachi | 87 comments In the prologue when he was dragging Jack away from the zombies, Bram got bit, so he eventually turned into a zombie. And they live in a Victorian style world because when the world was recovering, they got used to Victorian things like long dresses for girls, proper manners, and such. They got so used to it that they kept it that way.
It's not just you. It's actually a not modern/modern world because they have high advanced technology but they use an old lifestyle.
I'm on chapter three since I woke up a while ago.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay yeah that makes sense. Thanks Gabby! I will check in again in a little bit, I am on chapter 8, and I am enjoying what I have read. How about you?

Tachi | 87 comments I'm really enjoying it. I saw that there wouldn't only be Bram and Nora POVs so I hope that each voice doesn't sound the same. Hopefully, the book stays this good.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah there was another point of view that I read. His name was Wolfe. I don't really think his chapter was necessary in the story. But I am liking Bram and Nora's POVs.

Tachi | 87 comments Do you think the book would've been better so far if it was only Bram and Nora's POVs?

message 20: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments Yeah, I just finished chapter 5 and I see a third POV

ugh, what is that??

lol
but I do like it so far

Yeah, they did explain why they went victorian in a HUGE explanation chapter...it was kind of an info dump....but it tied it all together

I like it so far too, but Yeah....I'd like a pace pick up

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I think the book would be better if it was only Nora and Bram's point of few. I was flipping through the book just to see. And there is 4 other points of views. So 6 all together. But I think the other 4 people only show up once or twice. Ugh I don't like multiple POV, it's too confusing to keep up with all the characters.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

So I am up to Chapter 13

(view spoiler)

Tachi | 87 comments I was suspicious of that when Nora told the man who told her to go with her that her dad was dead. I remembered that there were things such as the undead and I wondered if he was one of them, not as dead as she thinks he is.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

How far into the book are you Gabby??

Tachi | 87 comments Chapter 7

message 26: by Tachi (last edited Jan 04, 2014 07:01PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tachi | 87 comments I'm past seven now and I think that this book is getting better. If it keeps being this good, I think I'll give it four stars when I finish it. The things that I'm looking forward to the most are Bram and Nora's POVs. I like how Bram isn't the brooding, bad boy type of person that is in already so many YA books. I really approve of this love interest:D

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

So I have just finished up to Chapter 20, and honestly, I am not totally loving this book.

(view spoiler)

How far is everyone else in this book? And are you liking it or not?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I agree, it has definitely gotten better, but I am finding that not that much has happened yet.

(view spoiler)

Tachi | 87 comments Despite the facts revealed, I'm starting to get bored and am starting to lower my expectations. Like you said, not much has happened.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah not much has happened, and it is making the book pace go slower and this book is about 470 pages, so I am hoping some action event happens soon.

Tachi | 87 comments True. That's the thing with long books. They can't have a slow pace or else the reader will lose interest.

message 32: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 05, 2014 07:11AM) (new)

Yeah exactly, and I am losing interest with this book. I am going to continue reading right now. I am up to chapter 25 and the only action happening so far is in Pamela's and Victor's chapters. I will check back in after 5 chapters or after something exciting happens. (not likely)

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

So I am up to chapter 29 now and chapters 27 and 28 were probably my favourite of the book so far. There is more action happening now which I like. (view spoiler)

message 34: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments yay! I'm going to read some of another book and then I'll make a big dent in this one and catch up with you guys :)

sounds like I've got some boring parts coming up but then it gets better :P

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I would definitely say it gets better, but I have like 10 pages left, and I think I am only going to give this book a 2.5 rating. I will share my thoughts after I finish reading.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

So I just finished the book and here is my review if any of you are interested, just to save me from re-typing my thoughts. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

How far is everyone else? And are you enjoying it?

message 37: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited Jan 05, 2014 07:28PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments okay,I'm @ 10 chapters read

don't hate it but I kind of want to skip any chapter that doesn't say Bram or Nora lol
but I'm not

so I'm at the part where

Nora (view spoiler)

Bram (view spoiler)

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I liked Bram too, but I thought that (view spoiler)

message 39: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments Tori wrote: "Yeah I liked Bram too, but I thought that [spoilers removed]"

very true, it is a huge part of the book

but amazingly, I am reading 3 different zombie books
and each one is handling zombies and what they are and do - and the reason for the zombies - very differently

it's interesting to compare each book and, so far, I like that this book has a different take on them.

message 40: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments I'll read more soon :) I hope to finish this one tomorrow

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah it was interesting how the author chose to make the zombie aspect like a subtle aspect of the story. She didn't make them seem violent, more so kind and gentle, which I also liked, because I am not too into gory, detailed zombie books.

message 42: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments sorry, I forgot to update yesterday
I finished thru ch 21

I don't like Wolfe at all :(

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah i never liked him either :/

message 44: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments okay, wow and I'm one

I thought it was pretty good although I have to admit (view spoiler)

I'm glad I finally read it!

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha yeah that was pretty gross! I enjoyed it, although I didn't like it as much as I would have liked to.

Tachi | 87 comments Tori I agree with your review. I guess I'll give it three stars since I found myself really enjoying Pamela's POV. I think I'll give book two a shot someday.
