I found this story really interesting because I live in an area where many Quakers settled. I enjoyed learning about the beginning of the story before the Quakers came to America. The romance plot goes beyond the typical rebellious teen romance novel. The story stayed with me for a long time. The sequel, Forged in the Fire, is not as good. I hope you all like it!

Oh that's so cool :-) I just started this one today! Only read the first two chapters. Hoping I will enjoy this one!

I liked the story in this book. I didn't really know much about the Quakers or the religious persecution during this time. I thought the book was interesting. I thought it was a bit earthy which made it feel authentic. Whether it is or not I don't know. I actually read this in one sitting so it was a pretty quick read.
Nanci glad you liked the book. I loved all the period details that made 17th century England come to life. I was shocked at the persecution of Quakers who are peaceful people!
I guess they were persecuted because their beliefs didn't always match up with the laws instituted by society. I heard about Quakers getting in trouble for not wanting to participate in wars (because they are pacifists). All interesting!
