Am I the only one who doesn't think vampire series are a good example?

Ok, so I'm not upset about people who like vampire series. We each need our own opinion in this world. But my main problem with Vampire entertainment is that it's slutty. I prefer quality entertainment that's actually a good example like The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. What also bothers me is how they seem to be explicitly sexually and gory. Plus the bloodlust is gross. I do think vampires are an overrated fandom, and I see no good character traits in them. You can get upset at me but this is my view. Again, I'm not making this thread to make anyone mad, I just never thought of vampire series as family oriented or a good example.

There is only one Vampire novel that I like, Interview With the Vampire. I understand what you are saying about vampire books being over-rated. Ever since Twilight blew up, more and more YA-vampire books are becoming popular. And most of them aren't very good. I would never expect to find a Vampire novel that was family oriented, it might come off as silly, and not really make too much sense.
I have never liked vampires, I think that they make excellent villains however.
I personly really did not like twilight. I thought that the author tried to make them too good, the whole myth of vampires is that they feed off other beings blood to survive, how is that something that you would want to be?
I liked Stephanie Meyer's writing,I loved the host.just wasn't a fan of the vamps.

I read a book called Sunshine by Robin Mckinnley. It's about vampires and I actually enjoyed it. It is nothing like Twilight and I am not a fan of Twilight.
I'm actually with you, but it depends on the book. For example, I'm not a fan of vampire books that don't give the vampire any kind of trait except being hot=.= As for Twilight, I didn't like it, or its vampires. A vampire book I loved was Vampire Academy because it features vampires that have set out jobs, personality, and actual flaws.
