Maureen | 3 comments A friend insists he read a Koontz book, prior to 1991. It opens with a couple in a bedroom, doing the horizontal shuffle, when the man succumbs. He has handcuffed the woman to the bedposts, so she is trapped. She has to knock him off the bed to catch her breath, but is unable to move off the bed. When she is overcome by thirst, she rolls to the bedstand and manages to rip some pages from the Gideon Bible. she rolls a page tightly and creates a straw she can use a couple times to get some water.

He insists this is a Koontz book, but to me sounds more "King like".

Can anyone identify this book?

Many thanks for any help.
Maureen

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 246 comments That doesn't even sound vaguely familiar. I don't read King so I don't know if it's something by him.

Nicholas (just_nick) | 10 comments It almost sounded like you were describing False Memory at first, but there wasn't a scene where she wasn't able to move off the bed or rip out the pages of the Gideon Bible, so probably not it. I haven't read much pre-1990 Koontz so I honestly am stumped.

Karl | 12 comments I just found out that I have that novel on my kindle. I think I'll check it out. I'm still reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, too. I don't know where my head will be when I'm done with it all.

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Well now I have to read that Stephen King book. I've read a lot of his stuff including the entire Gunslinger series but I am intrigued by this conversation, It sounds like those who say its King are positive. I've read three times more King than Koontz. It sounds like King.

Vicky Ayre Definitely Gerald's Game as stated by previous posters. Very good read indeed. I'm not a massive King fan but have read quite a few and this was one of the better ones for me.
