Give me some suggestions for what we should start with. Just drop any and all books you're interested in reading and then we'll do the democracy thing and put together a poll.

Also, welcome and hello. :)

Relaxovision | 4 comments Well, I am currently reading The Benevolence Tales by Elora Bishop; A mediocre witch accepts an assignment in the strange city of Benevelonce, and falls in love with a shapeshifter outcast. It's mostly cute, and there's some adventure.

Monika (sowicked) | 1 comments My recommendation is The Temple at Landfall by Jane Fletcher. It's the first book in the series, and in my opinion, the best. It's about an all female society, the honor of being a soldier, the sacrifice of being gifted with a divine gift and the love that has a power to shake the very foundations of everything that the society and it's religion make people believe about themselves.

I have the e-book if it becomes necessary.

Lianna | 3 comments The Warrior's Path (When Women Were Warriors #1) was pretty decent. I read them a few years ago but they were fun. Lots of queer women warriors, but it's just accepted as the way that society is which was refreshing.

Black Blade Blues was also good.

Mallory | 1 comments Hey, just joined, hope I'm not too late! I particularly enjoyed The Miseducation of Cameron Post by emily m. danforth, which is set in a small southern town in the 1990's and is a coming-of-age sort of tale complete with trouble with friends, romance, heartbreak, a bit of death and a few twists thrown in, including a boarding school very reminiscent of True Directions. It makes no difference to me what we read, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in and participate somehow :3

Relaxovision | 4 comments I heard the His Dark Materials trilogy is really good, haven't checked the books (or audiobooks) out myself, though.

Ysabella (ysabe11a) I've enjoyed the Sarah Waters books I've read. I wish I could suggest more, but my local library is pretty scant unfortunately. :(

this looks interesting, I would nominate this.

Also does His Dark Materials have any LGBT characters? I don't remember any off the top of my head (other than MAYBE the guy who is mentioned having a Daemon the same gender as himself - I always wondered if that was supposed to be an indication of a queer character)

I put the book(s) in here, because I was told there are plenty lgbt characters. That's weird.

Lianna | 3 comments Oh the gay angel couple right - I did forget about them. But I believe they only really show up in the last book (someone correct me if I'm missing something - I haven't read the books in a while, and wouldn't be opposed to rereading them, just not sure they are exactly what this group was aimed towards)

sara | 1 comments The Warrior's Path is currently free on Amazon, for the record.

If we're still doing this, something I've been meaning to read that's hasn't been mentioned yet is Twixt by Sarah Diemer (which is Elora Bishop's YA penname).

Relaxovision | 4 comments I'm in for Twixt if I can get my hands on a copy.
