Few random reminders:

You may start reading for this Card now!

If author only use his / her initial and not full name (ie. M.J. Carey as opposed to Sue Monk Kidd) you can still use that book. Both M.J. Carey and Sue Monk Kidd can be used for this Card if you can match them on any of above Shelves / Categories.

On number of pages:
1. If reading a physical copy; go with the edition you have; OR
2. If reading ebooks - use the most popular edition's page numbers. On the book page, click on "all editions" on the book details and the most popular edition will be the first one listed on that page
Colours are totally subjective to the beholder -as long as you think it reflects the 'gloomy' or ‘dark’ spectrum.

I will provide google doc link when I’ve successfully uploaded it

On top of it all, finding a book with 'M' makes it very hard! I need ideas for friends-to-lovers, genre-fantasy, fantastic, and paranormal-supernatural, not books I usually read. I had few "to-read"s in those and if there were any they didn't have an M! Short books preferred :)

Ha! 10 pages into friends-to-lovers, I founds 2 books on my shelf. One was DNF whilst one is still to-read and coincidentally the author's last name is Maxwell... still looking...

Who we need to give us rec for this shelf, I reckon would be either DG or Dee.

ooh, here's a YA one:
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry (page 12)

a good opportunity to re-read Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) maybe? (page 17)

Hadn't thought of a re-read of Mockingjay. I could do that. I only had checked 10 pages of that section so far, so maybe I just need to get further into it.

message 9: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2248 comments Would either of these work for category "g" (dark, gloomy cover):

Memoirs of a Geisha (Random House Large Print) by Arthur Golden

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs

message 10: by LynnB (new)

LynnB | 1775 comments I found something for every shelf and category finally! In the end, I found the hardest one was Category J (Has number of rating less than 500). I had to go as far as shelf-page 30 on some items, but I finally found books that worked.

well done, Lynn! I've not completed my list yet and find that I'm struggling a little bit more than January!

Ooh, I need to read Mockingjay, the only one I haven't finished. I think I will use that one.

re the friends-to-lovers shelf:

Wicked Lovely (M Meyer) and Never Let Me Go are both there. Also Twilight & Host (also by S Meyer). But it seems all the ones I actually want to read on that shelf don't have "M" anywhere. I may have to go with the YA one Tien found. Either that or Stuff My Stocking, which I think DG shared with us in December.

If you're interested... LynnB found Brokeback Mountain which she's picked for this shelf. I myself picked a Richelle Mead VA book. I wasn't too impressed with the first book but enough time has lapsed that I'm somewhat curious about the next book... :p
Megan L has chosen The Secret of Ella and Mischa which is NA
Dionisia has a really interesting pick! Hero which has been shelved as YA / Fantasy / GLBT -I've added that to my TBR (thanks, Dionisia!)

You can add my choice for that shelf as well, if anyone needs a suggestion: Beautiful Disaster

OK, I need help for Historical Romance. I need a short book (100-200) with few ratings (<500). I thought I found one - Miracle in New Hope - but it is a Nook book, and I do not own a Nook. :(

Nevermind, I found one!

Thanks. Several good ideas there that I hadn't noticed.

Tien,

Would you accept Leaf Storm and Other Stories by Gabriel García Márquez for animal on cover? It's very stylized, I know, but I do think it's a bird of some sort. I fear the book I initially chose, Ojos de Perro Azul, which is in Spanish, is beyond me for now. Both by the same author, Gabriel García Márquez.

Oops. I forgot to check whether it was also on the reviewed-books shelf, and it's not. I may still read it, or look for something that will do both.

I find this the most confusing game we've done! Not that the rules themselves are unclear at all, but somehow I keep forgetting one part of them when choosing books, and have to go redo things.

The same thing happens to me, Susan. Plus I have to get busy and update my log. I think I only have one of my books on there.
