Targets on one side, X's for you to stand on the other.

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Lilac stood on top of the X, opposite the target, her feet covering the mark as she positioned her body to shoot. Lilac had been eleven when her father presented her with her first bow and taught her to shoot with a similar target. Over time, Lilac's bow changed and the target got smaller and farther away. Personally, Lilac was never a fan of the bow. Sure she could shoot a flying bird if she wanted to (The entire Summer, Lilac's father made her do it until she could get four or five in one shot). But she preferred her guns. And knives. Lilac loved her knives. She had a whole set back home. Or the rest of her set. She had packed a few with her for the hunting trip on the day of the invasion. Lilac pulled back the bowstring to her ear, her eyes on the target, breathing in and focusing before releasing. Not exactly where she wanted it, but close. Lilac was aiming for the ring around the bull's eye, at about 90 degrees. Hitting anywhere in the middle circle was easy. She had just sent an arrow through after all but she wanted to hit that 90 degrees mark. She was rusty and need brushing up. The reason that Lilac had taken up the bow for hunting at the camp, and not the gun, was because there simply wouldn't be enough bullets for every hunter to go around shooting. And it would make too much noise and attract attention. An arrow they could reuse over and over and much more stealthily. Lilac picked up another arrow from the pile besides her and placed it on the string before positioning herself for another go.

Lucky Duckie | 107 comments Atari wandered over to the shooting range. Even though everyone had specific jobs it didn't hurt to improve your skills in other areas. Yeah, it was unlikely that anyone would hand him a gun to use, but if something did happen, Atari wanted to be able to aim it. Of course, the advice Juliette had offered was to try shooting something easier first. She'd told him, in no uncertain terms, that he had to practice on a moving target before she'd even consider training him with any real weapon. Harsh? Eh, she had a lot going on. Just like everybody else. Which was why even though Atari didn't like being told what to do, he had accepted the fact that she was trying to help him. Realistically he did need to improve, and this was the best place.

Some girl was already shooting, and she looked maybe seventeen. Not someone he would have thought to hang out with, but he did notice that her shot hit the ring around the bulls eye. She didn't seem disappointed, but she also seemed pretty unenthusiastic. Which left him wondering if she usually made the bulls eye, or if that had been a good shot for her, and she just wasn't the type of girl to celebrate. Atari tilted his head and moved closer to her, not saying anything right away, since she was already aiming another arrow.

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Lilac noticed something out of the corner of her eye, to her right. Some kid, a freshman by the looks of it. No older than fourteen. Fifteen at the very most. She passed by him the the halls a few times between classes. He was just a familiar face. Not much more. Lilac pulled back her bow string. Breathing, focusing and adjusting the arrow she let it go. It still didn't hit exactly where she wanted it to go but she was getting closer. This time, she had at least he the line. At about a seventy-five degree angle. She estimated within the next three arrows she would hit her target. As Lilac picked up her next arrow, she spoke to the boy. "Would you like something?" She asked coolly, having noticed him not do anything else but watch her shoot and position her next arrow.

From the looks of it, this kid was not a shooter. He looked far from it. He seemed to be one of those inside, video games or internet people. And if Lilac was right, she hoped for her sake as well as others that he would think twice before picking up a bow and arrow. Or the more preferable option of not picking one up at all. At the very least speak up and ask for help. What if this was one of those cocky, "i'm in high school now so I'm so amazing and fantastic and invincible" freshman? She glanced over quickly to him as she placed her arrow on the bow. No, his posture showed that he was more on the shy end. Thank the Lord for that.

Lucky Duckie | 107 comments As soon as her posture changed, Atari was sure that she'd noticed him. Not in a notice how hot that guy is kind of way. Just in a way that she knew someone else was in the area. He moved quietly, heading to pick up a bow and quiver of arrows without saying anything. He figured it was easiest to let the girl adjust her arrows without being disturbed. She didn't seem like the type of girl who had many friends or wanted company. The first words out of the girls mouth confirmed such. Honestly though, he'd expected her to be at least a little bit more polite. No reason not to try getting along with the other people here, even if you did think you were better than them.

"Hello," Atari spoke quietly but confidently. "You're Daisy, right?" He was pretty sure she was some sort of flower girl, although if he was completely off that would be embarrassing. Did he ignore her question? Yep. Atari figured she wasn't the nurturing type who would be patient as he tried to figure this out. She seemed more like the person who fed a man a fish just so he would leave her alone. Teaching someone a life-skill was something she wouldn't waste time with most likely. Sink-or-swim, yeah?

Sᴀᴅɪʏᴀ Lilac set lowered her bow and turned to get a better look at the boy. Short, poor posture, quiet but not particularly shy. Most definitely a freshman. "My name is Lilac. And I would appreciate it if you would answer my question." Lilac said calmly as she turned back towards the target, raising her bow. Lilac was not fond of being ignored. She was generally ignored when she among a larger group of friends. And that was alright. In such a crowd, the quiet ones tend to be forgotten. She did not, however, appreciate it when her questions or comments were ignored in smaller groups. Or in this case a group of two. She picked up another arrow, adjusted it and pulled back. She counted to three before she released, hitting her target. A small smirk crept up her face, satisfied for the time being. She placed her bow besides her and began to walk towards the target to bull out the arrows.

Lucky Duckie | 107 comments Atari nodded to himself when she corrected him. Daisy had been close enough that she knew he'd tried to get it right at least, instead of randomly guessing. He moved from the pile of bows to stand next to her. Not right next to her of course, but all the targets were in a row. Lilac walked off, maybe to prove some sort of point? No, he realized a second later she was out of arrows. He waited until she was walking back to aim his first arrow. Atari had done archery a couple of summers ago at a real camp, so he wasn't completely clueless, but he wasn't overly confident on his ability to remember everything he'd learned. Hitting her on accident? Yeah, that wasn't something that would go over well.

"If I wanted something, I'd ask someone else." Atari answered her question in an offhand sort of way. He wasn't trying to be snarky, she honestly really wasn't someone he'd ask for anything. Just because she was older didn't mean he had to look up to and respect her. It was obvious Lilac didn't know his name, yet she'd made no effort to find out. No one knew how long they were going to be stuck here for and Atari's opinion was that the more people you were friendly with the better chances you had of making it. She wasn't not-friendly like Skyla, who was still in a popular-mode thing, but she wasn't trying to make the best of this situation either. That's how he saw it anyways. Focusing his thoughts, Atari shot one of the arrows, and while he didn't make the bulls eye by any means, it wasn't bad for someone so out of practice.
