One of my groups has a bi-monthly book read in which the moderator posts two books which we can read and discuss every two months. I like this because it gives me a good reason to read a book! I'd not be a good moderator because I'm not active enough, but if anyone wants to start a Group Reads and solicit recommendations here's the first: The Sun by Philip Meyer. The Wall Street Journal gave a wonderful review to this new, highly researched book. I couldn't find it on Goodreads. Maybe it's too new?

Hey Michael, we've tried to do group reads before but haven't had much interest. But if there are a group of members out there who want to do one, I'd be happy to set it up.
How about my book Invaders in Our Town? It is a very interesting and easy read about the civilians experience of the Battle of Gettysburg. I have had two giveaways and have received really good reviews. Plus, on Amazon I have gotten 14 five stars and three four stars. It is perfect for a group read as the book deals with many historic and wonderful people whose exploits and character are interesting. Give it a try and then let me know what you think. I know it will be worth your time. My email is jmlfaber40@cox.net. I have sold more than 450 copies since May 2013, so it is doing well, and the sales are a testimony of what folks think about it.
As I said, give it a try...

I've seen other groups hold a nomination period for books to read and then ask the members to vote for which one to read. If we get some more members expressing interest here, we can set it up.
I write an American western series that I would be willing to make available for free if you all wanted to take a look. I did that for another GR group for their monthly read and it worked out nicely for them, and was fun for me as well. So I'd be willing to do it again. My stuff is not eligible for Kindle freebies, so I just gifted a limited number for them to members participating in the read. I also made a few trade paperbacks available for people who don't have Kindles. No strings, other than I had the fun of reading their discussion. :-)
It's really more of a historical adventure romance, so it's better suited to this forum. Ping me if y'all are interested. http://www.amazon.com/Five-Dollar-Mai...
Thanks for the feedback, Jenny. I wish I had some time available to structure such a read, but count me in as one who would buy the group book and read it. BTW, I prefer what my other group does: 2 new reads every TWO months. That way you can pick which one is of interest and take two months to read it. Thanks for following up. Michael.
