How did you enjoy this series and how do you feel about the movies? do you feel that they give a good sense of the story?

message 2: by Min (new)

Min (minbuchanan) I enjoyed the books a lot. Except for the second one. I really didn't like that one much. For the most part, I've learned (after five movies) to enjoy them separate from the books. I love the stories either way, and I can appreciate the story telling in the movie even if it differs from the books.

I agree with you Mindy,I have learned to treat the books and the movies as two separate things.
I think that it allows you to enjoy them more if you aren't comparing the two too much.

message 4: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 46 comments I like them both. I hate that the last book is going to be two movies. That seems cheesy hollywood purely money making manipulation.

Half the time, it has been so long between the book and the movie that I often dont even notice the differences

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't know the last book was going to be 2 movies... so there are still 3 movies to come? Do you know when the series is supposed to be completed?

message 6: by April (new)

April (booksandwine) I loved Harry Potter! My favorite book is definately Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.
With the movies, they are the type where I see them once, and that's fine. I have no real desire to watch them over and over again.
I'm with Terri, I hate that Deathly Hallows is going to be two movies. If they can fit Order of the Phoneix into one movie, and if they made LoTR into three movies, then clearly they could make Deathly Hallows into a single movie. However, if they cut out the BAMF that is Neville - remember how he kicked ass in the last book, I'm gonna be pissed!
Then again, as terrible as this sounds, I feel like the movies are too long anyways.

Oh and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend getting on YouTube and searching Potter Puppet Pals.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha I love Potter Puppet Pals! They are awesome!

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
I agree, I seriously don't think that Deathly Hallows needs to be made into two movies. I'll go see the movies but its not one of those things where I go see them a dozen times opening week.

Oh and the Potter Puppet Pals are hilarious!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

So, wait... can I get some clarification? Is Deathly Hallows going to be 2 movies that come out at the same time or 2 movies that come out like 6 months apart? Maybe I should just google it...

message 10: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 46 comments There will be a gap between them.

message 11: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle1105) | 57 comments I'm so excited for the Half Blood Prince to open Wednesday. I already bought my midnight tickets!!!

message 12: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
Michelle me too!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh well... I don't like the idea of splitting Deathly Hallows either! Are they going to change the name or just use Deathly Hallows 1 & 2? It's pretty frustrating to think there will still be 2 more movies to wait for after this week... I thought we were almost done!!

message 14: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
I don't really like that they are splitting up the last book into two movies, but I'm hoping that will at least mean that they will be able to fully portray all the details of the last book.

I'm just hoping they don't have too big of a gap between the two or that would just be annoying.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah... Because they are doing 2 movies, they don't really have an excuse to leave out anything important.

message 16: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
That's what I was thinking, but I guess only time will tell.

message 17: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle1105) | 57 comments I'm pretty sure the gap is only like 6 months apart or something like that. They are filming them back to back and the reason is for they can really capture the last book and end the series properly.

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
Yeah that's what I thought! I just got home from seeing The Half Blood Prince,YAY!

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

How was it? I'm going to see it this weekend. Working 10 hours days sucks when it comes to things I want to do like movie previews! Oh well...

I started re-reading Harry Potter last night.

I enjoyed the movie, and silly me I cried at the end.I really do love Luna Lovegood, she's so adorable! My only complaint is that the theater I was in, was insanely hot!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Hot?! That's no good! I can't wait to see it... I usually see the midnight showing for the movies, but these 10 hour work days are killers!

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
I used to work shifts like that and I felt like all I did was work!
Yeah it was really weird but the theater was so hot,I don't know if it was just the packed theater or faulty air conditioning, but it was quite uncomfortable.

You'll have to let me know what you think once you see it.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I will. I think we will probably go tomorrow. :) I'm so excited!

message 24: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey Love HP... I really can't complain other than the movies are TOO short! But.. I expected that.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

The newest movie was awesome!! It was totally (in my opinion) the best of the movies so far! I was very disappointed with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie, so this was very refreshing.

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
Yay, I'm glad you liked it Linda! I thought the movie was really good! Even though it was a sadder part of the story they really were able to bring out the lighter points and I also thought that the cinematography was lovely and the sets were more dynamic then the previous movies.

message 27: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey I really do think this last movie covered a lot of what happened in the book. *sigh* Why do we have to wait for the next one - TWICE! Ugh.

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
I know, Its going to be almost two years before the 2nd part of Deathly Hallows comes out! According to IMDb.com Part 2 will come out July 15th 2011! That's forever from now!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

They are going to look way too old for the part!! Oh well, I guess that's what stage make-up is for...

message 30: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
I know seriously, hehe! I watched this film the other day and they had 35 year olds cast as 17 year olds it was completely ridiculous!

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol yeah. Moaning Myrtle was in her 30's I think when the FIRST movie was made!! And she was supposed to be the same age as the students having died while still in school! Crazy...

message 32: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (missjenna) | 586 comments Mod
Yeah, I think sometimes it can work out fine (not in the case of the aforementioned film) but I'm sure it will work out in Harry Potter.

message 33: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey Yeah, they really needed to film them bam - one after the other... or something. I wouldn'tve minded a Harry Potter TV series instead either.

You'll have to let us know what you think once you see it Julia!

message 35: by K. (new)

K. Lippi (KLippi) I love the series only I wished that JK Rowling would have added one more chapter between the last chapter of the 7th book and the epilogue. There is so much I wanted to know. For example how life was after the death of Voldermort. What types of jobs Harry, Hermonie, and Ron have and much more. I had the impression that JK Rowling got tired of the series and wanted to finish the book as soon as possible.
