Caru What books do you know of that are over-hyped?

For me it's Legend, Harry Potter, and Matched

Marlina Hays (haysia) | 5 comments Pride and Prejudice... I am trying to get into it, but it's like blah, blah, blah..lol Of course, if I'm not in the mood for a certain genre, I'm just not in the mood.

Gabriella (songbirdgabriella) | 15 comments Harry potter---agreed. I also think Romeo and Juliet is overhyped, as well as the Throne of glass series. Everyone talks about it, and I'm left like...okay?

John Burnett | 4 comments While I do read a lot of popular fiction, I really like discovering a new author whose has a "new take" on things. So many books today follow a formula of whatever or whomever is popular. That may sell books, but doesn't truly advance the craft, don't you think?

Gabriella (songbirdgabriella) | 15 comments ^totally agree. Books seem to follow in each others footsteps so often, it's like they blend together. I'm always reading new books that most of my friends have never heard of, and yet those books-even above the very popular YA books today-end up being my favorites. For me, uniqueness is better then sticking to the same old thing. It's good to get something fresh every now and again.
