Never buy it in bottles - especially if you are in North America. Tap is best, Can is not so bad. Coldness is vital.

Unfortunately here they do the "American pour" (tipping the mug to minimize agitation and, thus, foamage).

I prefer the Dutch trick of frothing that bitch up and then cutting off the head with a knife designed for that purpose. You get it without the foam but while the bubbles are still crazy. The smell of it invades your aura and soothes the eyeballs. Others become better looking before the first sip.

It is a little mediocre, yes...but often the best of a bad bunch in a pub.

O'Hara's Irish Stout is pretty good as is Victory Donnybrook Stout if you want to keep it Irish
