Whats your favorite book by Miralee Ferrell and why?

message 2: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 85 comments Mod
So far, my favorite is "Blowing on Dandelions." I love historical fiction, particularly Christian historical fiction, and I love the way that Miralee writes such realistic characters and scenarios, ones that are as relevant today as they were in the 1880s!

message 3: by Miralee (new)

Miralee | 168 comments Ah, thanks, Sarah! I really appreciate that!

message 4: by Miralee (new)

Miralee | 168 comments Thanks so much, Sarah! I'll be interested to see which is your favorite of the three after you've read the entire series.

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Shewey | 24 comments This is a tough question, I can say I liked The Other Daughter, Love finds you in Bridal Veil, Oregon and the Love Blossoms in Oregon series. I like how Miralee develops the characters and you really get to know them.

I love all that I have read but my mind keeps going back to Angel in Sundance, Wyoming. I just loved the book and her character.

message 7: by Miralee (new)

Miralee | 168 comments Sarah, I'm so glad you enjoy the character development, as that's something I work hard at getting right.

Wanda, I loved Angel, too...she, Christy and Katherine are my three favorite heroines of all my books.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Shewey | 24 comments Character development is important...if you can't relate to a character or if they don't come across as real, it's hard to get into the stoy.

So true Sarah!

Martha | 2 comments I really liked The Other Daughter, but I would have to say Blowing on Dandelions was really a tie with it.

message 11: by Tonya (new)

Tonya | 16 comments I have to say blowing on dandelions because in the first book I had already made my mind up about everyone, but that totally changed by the end and I think that is the sign of an excellent writer!!!

Martha, I have to agree with you....Blowing on Dandelions is actually very similar (as to tone and style) between The Other Daughter and Blowing on Dandelions. If I'd set Dandelions in present day, it could easily have been women's contemporary fiction. Did you know I started writing it as a contemporary and switched? I should share the first chapter someday.

message 13: by Miralee (new)

Miralee | 168 comments Tonya, did you read The Other Daughter or Finding Jeena? I love your comment, and I'll bet you'd feel the same way with many of the characters in those two.

message 14: by Debora (new)

Debora Wilder | 12 comments At this point the only one that I've read is Blowing on Dandelions. I have Wishing on Buttercups in my TBR pile, and am really looking forward to it. I'm going to have to wait for my husband to get a job before I can go back and try and buy some of the other books.

I absolutely loved Blowing on Dandelions and really felt a connection with a lot of the characters in it.

I know the feeling Deborah. I get a lot of freebies but when it's my absolute favorite authors, like Miss Miralee, I try to set aside enough to get the new releases. So many great books, so little money! Ugh! It's frustrating. LOL

I'm in the same boat! I can't keep up with all the books I need and want to read!

message 17: by Debora (new)

Debora Wilder | 12 comments When I get a Freebie that has a deadline for getting it read and review it goes above those without a deadline. Then I put those with deadlines in order starting with the deadline and 2nd criteria is what order they arrive in the mail. ARCs that I receive the deadline is set by when they release. I want to have my review written so it can be posted on Amazon on release day.

That's a good strategy Debora. I tried using a calendar and I always forgot to check it so you know what I do? It's a little unconventional but it's perfect for me. I have all of my upcoming reviews wrote on post it notes with due dates and they are lined up across the bottom of my computer. LOL Hey, it works!

Same here! I've lost track of what books are even on my Kindle at this point! Half of the time I see a free one offered and go to the page only to have it tell me that I bought it months ago! At least I know I'll never be short on books! ;-)

Wanda, I use an app called Sticky Notes on my desktop; they appear as post-it style notes on my computer screen, and they are all lined up along one side of my screen. :-)

message 22: by Miralee (new)

Miralee | 168 comments Sarah, I LOVE the idea of the Sticky Note....I'm going to try that!!

They are wonderful little tools! My only problem is that I end up with tons of them! LOL!

Hey yeah! I had that on an older computer. It came with it when I bought it. Where do you get it Sarah? Sorry but apparently I'm not getting notifications for some reason. I need to check my spam folder.

Mine is an app on Windows 8. I'm not really a fan of Windows 8, but I do like my sticky notes. Lol.

I buy 1 or 2 new books a month, if that, the rest are free.
