In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc.

Tyler | 6 comments Well the fact that it switches from 2014 in Chicago to 1969 at Woodstock is pretty interesting (just saying) and it's pretty cool because it talks about good music. Also the characters are very interesting because the dad in 2014 is very different compared to him in 1969 so you can see the character development. Are You Experienced?

ChewCONNORbacca | 4 comments Well my book is about Aliens being charged for copyright infringement. The whole aspect of this is that aliens heard our telecommunication signals out into the universe. There is very little dialogue in this book but it kind of sets the mood for what is to come. Year Zero

Nikolas Briggs (MMAFighter) | 3 comments Soldier Boys It is a war book. I like war books. I am not far into it but it is very good. It has humor in it too. It is about the Germans, so it is about the nazis.

message 5: by ChewSEANbacca (new)

ChewSEANbacca | 2 comments So far this book is about a guy named Montag, he's a fireman. Instead of putting out fires, he starts them. Montag and other fireman have been issued the job of burning all the books they can find in citizen's houses.

Fahrenheit 451

message 6: by Athena (new)

Athena | 3 comments Cracked Marbles Life's Lessons for a Maine Surgeon by Tom Palmer I like this book because it is a bunch of short stories telling about Harry Bryd's experiences in the medical field, and how he viewed things.

message 7: by Taylor (new)

Taylor N. | 3 comments The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
I find books about the Holocaust really interesting, sad, but interesting. I've heard a lot of good things about this book and I wanted to see what it was about. The characters and plot have really drawn me to the story. :)

message 8: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Peoples | 3 comments In this book, there are 16 year old twins, one boy (Tennyson) and one girl (Bronte). Bronte starts dating a very weird guy, that Tennyson does not like. Strange things then start happening to the people closest to the "Bruiser" (Girls boyfriend). This book is a very strange and suspensful contemporary novel.

Bruiser by Neal Shusterman

message 9: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Dolley | 3 comments I really like the fact that the book it is a mystery. Plus within the first 3 pages there was a hostage shooting going on and it give you the mystery of why did the person try to kill all of these people. The Client / The Street Lawyer

message 10: by Emily (new)

Emily Yager | 3 comments The Enchantress Returns (The Land of Stories, #2) by Chris Colfer It's a really good "brain vacation" book. It doesn't require much thinking, but it's still very fun and interesting. It's about two siblings who fall into the fairytale world, and have to, not only save themselves, but their family.

message 11: by Mae (new)

Mae King I picked Coraline by Neil Gaiman because I personally really enjoy books that are very twisted. Books that when you finish them you almost have to read them again to make sure you understand them. I thought that Coraline would be a good idea because a lot of books that bring a character into another world are twisted.

message 12: by Nariah (new)

Nariah Cavarretta | 3 comments The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon I like horror books and this was recommended to me. The begging of the book is kind of slow but it hooks you in. I also wanted to read this because it is based in Maine and it is interesting to read since I know where everything is as the author (Stephen King) is talking about.

message 13: by Kiesha (new)

Kiesha Sullivan | 3 comments The fact that this book had suspense but its also weird, the main character in the book is a girl who lived with her grandma and started doing drugs with this boy and now is addicted to doing many types of drugs, she cant stop and doesn't know how to say no.

message 14: by Espo (new)

Espo | 2 comments Sum It Up: 1,098 Victories, a Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective
I enjoy this book because it is about basketball and one of my favorite coaches. It is also just an interesting and inspiring book.

message 15: by Brandonp333 (new)

Brandonp333 | 3 comments I'm reading the hunger games. So basically the U.S is divided in 12 factions. And once a year they take a few kids and make them kill each other. Whatever sector of children win. The faction gets extra food. And that's good since everyone is starving. Hence Hunger Games.

message 16: by Cameron (new)

Cameron Holmes | 3 comments Sole Influence: Basketball, Corporate Greed, and the Corruption of America's Youth

In this book it talks about the unknown things that happened behind closed doors with all of the major sports companies. It talks about the players and what influenced them to sign the endorsements.

Jakegorhamhigh2017 | 3 comments In this book the characters are in a war and on of there fellow soldiers goes crazy and bails out. They try to find him I have read up to the second day. They have not found anything, but they saw him on the hill.

message 18: by Noelle_dibiase (new)

Noelle_dibiase | 3 comments Pet Sematary

A man moves to Ludlow, Maine with his family(wife, cat, daughter and son). He's a doctor. So far, things have gotten a little weird, and his daughter comes to the realization that all things must die. She's begun to think this way because they walked through a path with their new neighbors to a pet sematary.

message 19: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Perry | 3 comments I like this book because it is not all flowers and sunshine and it is written by a real drug addict and alcoholic. Some of the pieces of the book he fudged and did not actually go through but it is still great.

message 20: by Jordana1311 (new)

Jordana1311 | 4 comments I like this book because it is sci fi and it is just cool. There is this kid that has the choice to go into the arny to fight aliens or stay home with his family. I can't wait to see what he says

message 21: by Trystan (new)

Trystan Bates | 3 comments I like this book because it tells me more about what people around the world think of Australians. There are many stereotypes. It's like I'm having a conversation with the author and I like to read it.

message 22: by Rhiannon (new)

Rhiannon H | 3 comments Patterson wrote: "In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc."

I love the way that John Green voices his books. He makes these great strong characters and puts them through some tough situations that can be related to real life.

message 23: by Ehawyard (new)

Ehawyard | 3 comments I'm not exactly sure if I like this book. I haven't read that much. It seems interesting so far, kinda weird. There's a mom and her son, they don't leave their house ever. Also there is a guy that brings them things every Sunday, his name is Old Nick.

message 24: by Erica (new)

Erica Tbow (erica_tbow17) | 3 comments Patterson wrote: "In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc."

There is not much happening in the book right now I am trying to get through the characterization part and get to the action so there is not much that I can tell you so far because I still don't know the persons name or if it is a girl or a boy.

message 25: by Kayleal3 (new)

Kayleal3 | 3 comments I really like this book so far. It is about a woman who is wasn't treated nicely by her husband, and so she ran away. Also a man with 2 children whose wife has died, and he owns small shop. The setting is in North Carolina. It really is keeping me interested.

message 26: by Jordana1311 (new)

Jordana1311 | 4 comments His father and mother want him to stay home and not go but his brother hurts him when his parents aren't home. He doesn't like that so he wants to go in the army but he won't see his family for 10 years.

Maevep | 3 comments Patterson wrote: "In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc."

I really enjoy this book because it is very unpredictable and surprises me. I also really like the characters.

message 28: by its_bellahh (new)

its_bellahh | 2 comments Ive only read the first like 2 chapters or something in this book so I don't know much about it but so far its really good and its about this little boy that's being abused in his house by his mother and he cant do anything about it and she tortures him but convinces the school district that he is a clumsy kid and that the bruises and burns and scratches he got by playing around and not being safe. The little boy is in 1st grade I think. and he has two brothers, and the father cant stop the mother from being abusive. But So far this book is really good and its pretty intense already.

message 29: by Kara (new)

Kara | 3 comments I really like how the format of the book is written. I like how Charlie is writing to an unknown person, who he only knows who it is. It's also written in how Charlie see's everything that's going on.

message 30: by Paddyo1122 (new)

Paddyo1122 | 3 comments Ron Burgundy: Let Me Off at the Top

This book is an autobiography about Ron Burgundy and it's absolutely hysterical! I like this book because it is really funny and talks about things that aren't mentioned in the movie like right now I'm reading about his childhood and "myths" about his hair.

message 31: by Justin (new)

Justin Laughlin | 2 comments I like this book because not only does it involve the sport that I love (baseball), but it has a twist. A baseball player's father got arrested for an unknown reason. It makes me want to read more.

message 32: by Hallie (new)

Hallie T | 3 comments Patterson wrote: "In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc."

I was enthralled by what the book was about. The book Wonder is about a young boy, August with a face deformity who is starting out school for the first time.

message 33: by Blake (new)

Blake | 3 comments Patterson wrote: "In this discussion space, write about the aspects of your book that hypnotize and enthrall you. You can discuss characters, conflicts, writing style, dialogue, etc."

This book intrigues me because it started out as one of the main characters, Noah who was in a nursing home pulled out an old notebook full of letters. When he started reading a flashback took place and he went back to 1940's when he saw Allie again.

message 34: by Katea12345 (new)

Katea12345 | 1 comments I really have enjoyed the book so far. The book is about a high school that every year the week before homecoming a list goes out around the school of the prettiest and ugliest girls in each grade.

message 35: by Tonyc17 (new)

Tonyc17 | 3 comments I like this book because it's science fiction like the Lightning Thief. This book reminds me a lot of The Giver and I liked the Giver a lot. In this book there is five different areas that you have to be chosen to get into once you are at a certain age. The main character is at this age and the book starts out with her looking in a mirror. Then the main character talks about how she never gets to sit in front of a mirror and that day was the only day she was allowed to. So far this book worth choosing.

message 36: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Carey | 3 comments I love the meaning behind this book. I love that the there's a character who gets into a bad accident and changes who he is from it. He was supposed to be Homecoming King, he is popular. Although he changed his ways after a near death experience The Beginning of Everything

Mrs. Dalloway
My book is about a lady in England that is throwing a dinner party. I think it's really interesting because it shows how ordinary people are affected by different things, and how, on the inside, there is always something unexpected.

message 38: by Desjardin (last edited Jan 28, 2014 08:42AM) (new)

Shutter Island

message 39: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 1 comments I like the main characters. I also really like the case they are working on. The writing style in this book is quite nice as well. A Study in Scarlet (Sherlock Holmes, #1) by Arthur Conan Doyle

message 40: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3 comments Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth I love this book because I just read the first one and it was fantastic. The first one was 487 pages and I read it in 4 days. I just started this one but what I really like about it is that it starts up right where the other one left off and there isn't any gap. The characters are fantastic and deep. It is a lot like The Hunger Games but I think that it is better. The Hunger Games was good but I never really got into the whole obsession thing, this is a book that I would definitely get into an obsession with.

Emma Smith | 2 comments Fathomless

This book interests me because the characters are all interesting, One girl can see people's pasts, one girl can see people's future, and one girl can see people's present. Then there are mermaids who are trying to become human again by drowning humans and taking their souls. It is all around interesting.

message 43: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Hall (Brad14) | 3 comments I love all John Green books so I chose Paper Towns. My goal is to read all of his books because all of his writing is brilliant. His books make me emotional and I love it. They're real to life and I have never been disappointed by his work. So I chose Paper Towns because it was the next on in the list I want to read. I like this book so far because it seems so real even though it's fiction, and I don't know. I just love everything about it.

Marc Yankles | 2 comments I am enjoying the book Up Close with Babe Ruth. I like this because I like to learn about older players. So far it is about Babe's life when he was a child and talks about his family. Right now I am learning more about him at the St Mary's Industrial School for boys.

Teddy Lockman | 3 comments I like Ender's game because he writes such that you see both sides of the picture, the military and the students. You get to the the feelings of the kids and the politics as to why the the teachers are doing these things in the novel.

message 47: by Katie (new)

Katie Bertin | 3 comments I just finished this book but I liked it a lot. It was about a few girls who have a stalker and a their best friend died. She actually wasn't dead. It was her secret twin that no one knew about who was murdered and she was hiding from the public so that it would not be confusing to her friends. Lots of other drama. It was good and I'd recommend it.

I also enjoy looking at the cover. Everyone says the last seven pages are the best they have ever read so I really want to finish this book so that I know what they are talking about.

Annie A-w | 3 comments I'm Reading Life As We Knew It. It's an okay book. It's defiantly more exciting than some other books. The writing style is different then others I've previously read. It's all from Miranda's point of view. I like the characters and the plot so far.
