Tom Tinney (tom_tinney) Are you self-published or with a small publishing house? You need reviews, but how do you get them?

You can pay a “professional” reviewer up to $100 (and give your book away free).
You can have Family and Friends write them (Leading to uncomfortable family events, when they realize the villain in the book is actually Aunt Lilith. Nobody likes her anyway, but they still get mad at you). OH, and they all want your book for free.
You can trade “one on one” reviews with another author. Whatever you rate their book, they will rate your book the same amount. If their book is REALLY bad, your book gets the same low rating you honestly gave theirs. We read one recently that actually ended with “You get the typos and grammatical errors at no extra charge”. Really? You want to trade reviews with that guy? And, yes, that guy wants your book for free.
You can give your book away FOR FREE during a promotion and HOPE someone actually writes a review. We have found that for every 200 books you give away during a promotion, you may get one review. The “I get a free book by following every free book site”crowd is just filling up their Kindle/Pad with thousands of books. We coined the term “Digi-hoarders”.

You need QUALITY reviews from QUALIFIED people.

This site allows Indie Authors to receive LEGITIMATE REVIEWS of their work by their peers. You get what you give.

We are the first step in your marketing effort for you book. Reviews and their ratings are how other sites (especially premier ones like Bookbub) determine if you and your work are serious and warrant their time and effort.

We are not about cheating the system and pumping superfluous reviews into your books listing. We are about HONEST reviews from members about your work. We all want to elevate our game. You do a little work and get some work in exchange.
YOU BUY THEIR BOOKS, THEY BUY YOUR BOOKS (No free reads)

Amazon and other retailers may soon go to proof, or “Verified Purchase”, in order to place or keep a valid review. When that happens, books with “Review spammers” will lose a lot of their reviews. A verified purchase through the Book Review CO-OP keeps your review of a member book in place, reviews of your book stay in place, and the reviews let a potential reader of your book KNOW that the reviewer had skin in the game. We also know that a reviewer gives a more honest review if they have purchased the work. Did they get value for their money? Their review reflects that perceived value.
TEN FOR TEN or Our new FIVE FOR FIVE. A Fair Trade!

The member can choose their review cycle. FIVE for FIVE or TEN for TEN (no switching mid-stream). A member reviews books FROM EITHER ACTIVE LIST to earn a reserved spot on the “Wait List”. (3 for the 5 cycle and 5 for the 10 cycle). After they review the required number of books (5 for 5 or 10 for 10) from the active lists, their book can move onto their chosen active list (5 X 5 or 10 X 10)when a new slot becomes available. The active list is NO MORE THAN 30 BOOKS at a time. It is first come first serve. Want to make the active list? Help knock some current books off by giving them reviews.

Membership in the Book Review CO-OP is $9.95. That also gets you your first “Review Run”. Each TEN for TEN or FIVE for FIVE review run after that is $9.95, as well. These dues help us maintain the site.

The value of the Book Review CO-OP is that our members may spend between $15-$20 (Dues plus 0.99 books) to give and receive quality reviews of their work by other Indie Authors. Indie Authors helping Indie Authors with HONEST reviews.
