Gambit (Rémy Lebeau): Ultimate X-Men #13
((A superhero that makes a gifted street hustler. It takes skill to live in a black and white world of good vs. evil when you're Gambit. Not only is he a thief, and a gambler but he'll easily have the heart to feed orphans--we need superheroes who live on that scale. Punching out criminals doesn't make you a better person. Being as rich as Bruce Wayne can't compare to how freely Gambit lives. He sees himself a King in a world of mentally ill homeless patriots and yet, he rules none of them.))

Alec Lightwood: The Mortal Instruments
((This is probably the first character I've ever been able to distinctively relate to in a book. He's the eldest and is expected of great things while inside, he doesn't believe he's worth a dime. Burdened by a severe anxiety disorder, it's decent to have some less arrogant characters around, ones who read like an open book. His inability to be anything other than what his family desires has squashed his spiritual, mental growth. He had to chose between being ruled by un-present parents and social acceptance for someone who is selfishly loving of no one but him.
When I realized how afraid I was for his life, I suppose it was around the time that I added him to this list.

If anybody's ever read a fanfiction by Spun, they might see how cool his point of view is. Even better Breaking Through. [If there's any mature content, understand that I just skip it].))

Ling Yao, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Greed, even God in these books should receive an honour.: Fullmetal Alchemist

My all time favourite would have to be Ling Yao. The twists and turns of his character took my breath away. One moment I couldn't stand the man, his arrogance, his dependency, living on the hook of everyone else's wallets. He was inexplicable, annoying and always smiling that infuriating smile. I wanted to slap him for bringing the first ever FMA filler episode besides the one with a baby's birth.
"I don't care if you're the prince of Xing! Stop bothering this story!" I was mentally crying, enraged.

As most stories go, it turned out that Ling wasn't like any of that at all... It was all just a mask. It's the only character I've ever met who can pull off so many faces.

The moment someone attacked his own bodyguard, he snapped. No more playing dumb for a foreign country. The world had bigger plans for him. Just when you're given a Ling shock therapy, flipping your perspective around, you lose him to something worse then death.
All maintained, Ling Yao also managed to give me huge appreciation for a mortal sin: Greed.
With it, he manipulated himself to good guy. It's one thing to be good naturally, it's another to turn a whole sin around for good's purpose.

I think it helped that he made me grit my teeth with severe indignation when I first met him.
