Mercy drew me from the moment I opened it. The words seemed to dance right off the page and into my imagination. I was taken from my warm comfy bed to a dark alley where a fight had broken out, then to a tattoo parlor with a secret room set up for sadomasochistic pleasure. Next to a sterile basement that screamed torture chamber, and finally to a small rustic cottage tucked away in the woods. These images did not just happen in my head, no, I was there. I was a bystander looking in as Sade's and Mercy's bodies and souls entwined with one another.
When I first read that Mercy wanted to calm Sade's sexual appetite down to more "normal" and socially acceptable acts, I was afraid she'd ruin him and take away the things that he needed. As the story progressed, Mercy did, in fact, calm his sexual needs, however, Sade brought out Mercy's darker side as well. Sade learned that he could love, that it was okay to love and care for someone, and to accept those emotions from someone else.
They each bared their souls to one another, laying out the reasons behind their sexual appetites, scars, both emotional and physical, and personalities. As I read Mercy's confession of her scars and deformities, I was in tears. My heart ached for her and the torture she endured at the hands of evil men. Sade's revelation about his mother brought me to tears as well.
I found myself gasping at the end of the story when the lights were shut off and there was a blood trail from the bed. Mr. Bane certainly outdid himself in this book. I cannot wait for the continuation. I do hope Mercy follows through with the tattoo though.

This book was the beginning of my Mercy addiction! I haven't read a dark book before and this one knocked it out of the park!!! Amazing story of Mercy & Sade helping each other through so much!!! Can't wait he for the final book!!!
This book sucked me in and wouldnt let me go! I loved it!!
