Sunny (travellingsunny) Happy February Reading!

Maina I wasn't really planning on reading this one, it wasn't really something I thought I would enjoy. I traded in some books at a used bookstore, so I had some store credit and Like Water for Chocolate was sitting on top of one of the piles. Thought I'd give it a shot...
The part I didn't think I'd like was the fairy tale aspect, but it ended up being what I liked most. I have been in Tita's position of loving someone you can't be with, so I felt as though I connected with her and understood many of the emotions she felt. I was pleasantly surprised by this book, and also by how quick of a read it is. I'm interested to see the movie now to see how much of the whimsy is incorporated.

Sunny (travellingsunny) I wasn't sure that I'd participate in this group read, but you've convinced me, Maina! I'll pick this one up next.

Diana S I loved how Tita expressed her emotions through the meals that she prepared and how others experienced her emotions while they ate her food.
The wedding cake for her sister's wedding, how the people experienced such lost and heart-brokenness.
The Roses - She make "Doves with the rose sauce". Everyone felt the love and passion, which lead one of Tita's sister to call her future love with the aroma of the meal from her body. I just love magical realism. :)
