Yes, the edition doesn't matter. The picture above is just what came up first.

Yaaaasss!

Kelsey (niceisneat) | 1 comments Are we all trying to read the same edition? There are very significant differences between the 1818 first edition and 1831 revised text (which Shelley edited to be much more politically conservative). They're both published nowadays with the same title. Are we all going to read the same one or read whichever edition we happen to have?

I was actually not aware of this until now. I think it's a bit late to tell people which one they should get though :(

I had to re-read the prologue several times before anything sunk in. It's really weird. The letters are okay.

Erin (readingwitherin) Agreed it's not how I thought it would be. Hopefully it gets better and more interesting.

Jennifer Marquis-gagnon (grobanfan67) | 30 comments I too have been struggling with this book. I'm not sure if it's the letters or the actual chapters that don't seem to make sense. I have found the connection between the letters and the chapters confusing. I am hoping that things will explain themselves better as the book goes along.

Erin (readingwitherin) It does get some better if you can make it to where "the monster" is telling his side of the story.
