Willow walked along the river, watching closely at the fish weaving in and out, inside of the water. She found it amazing how they lived on water and Elves lived on air. She suddenly heard rustling in a nearby bush.
"No no no NO!" Jason said as he was being chased by the bear he had created. It was his fault that the bear was chasing him. He was supposed to control it, but being a powerbind kind of made it hard. This entire world was crazy! Elves and Wizards and Vampires. Well he expected the vanpires but whatever. He thought for a moment and then looked at the bear and then it dissolved. Just like that. "Yes!" He said to himself doing a fist pump.
She kept her eyes closed tightly as she coiled tighter around the dragons legs. She was going to die.
Asra stood on the lake shore, arms crossed, gazing out at the water. She let her mind wander as she absently brushed a strand of hair back from her face and pushed it behind her ear, only to have a puff of wind free it again a moment later.
Jason smiled. He had to admit, he was proud of himself. He was pretty sure that he did a good job. He walked through the brush and then came to the lake and smiled as his eyes looked out at the water. He smiled to himself and then sighed and sat down, he needed to think. His world had been turned upside down and he needed to think some more. He came here everyday to think. Just think.
Asra herd a small sound from down the beach, a sigh. She turned and saw a guy sitting a little ways down the beach. He didn't seem to have noticed her. She walked over to him, stopping when she was a few feet away. "Hey." She said casually.
He jumped a bit and then looked up at the girl, "Oh yeah... Hi..." He said trying to smile. "Sorry if I was bothering you, just thinking." He scanned the girl and then bit his lip and then put on a smile. "If you want me to I can leave..." He offered.
"Nah, it's fine. You don't have to leave because of me." She said. She sat down next to him on the sand. It was a little presumptuous, a bit more so than she normally acted, but it felt a whole lot more awkward than standing above this guy. "You weren't bothering me. I just noticed you and came over, said hey." She shrugged.
"Oh well... Thank you I guess..." He really had no idea how to start a conversation with any of the people here. They weren't even people. They were beings but not humans. He wasn't either but it was still hard to deal with that information. He didn't know what to do with himself
"No problem." Asra said. She brushed that pesky strand of hair behind her ear again. She picked up a small stone and started fiddling with it, just something to keep her hands busy. "I'm Asra, by the way." She introduced herself.
"Oh um Jason. I'm Jason." He said. So she talked pretty normal. Then again what had he expected. Really he had no idea what he expected. He sighed and then bit his lip not really knowing how to hold a conversation with these people. It was too weird.
Asra picked up on his unease, wondering why Jason would be acting this way. She didn't think she had been acting threatening. "Are you okay?" She asked. "I'm not going to hurt you." She said cautiously.
"That helps a bit... Sorry if I'm being a little... Weird..." He apologized. He just felt so put of place. So far he had seen a girl turn into a snake, a person with wings and an elf. He was about to throw up.
Asra frowned. "It's fine." She said as she looked at him. She was glad Jason knew she wasn't a threat, but he still didn't look to good. "You look like you're about to throw up." She said, wondering what exactly he was so weirded out over.
"I do? That obvious huh?" He sighed and then dug his nails into his palm, "Sorry again I'm just a little... New around here... Feeling a little out of place with everything around me..." He let out a long sigh.
"New around here..." She said softly, possibilities running through her mind. Her eyes widened as she had an idea. "Are you human?" She asked. "A powerbind maybe? You don't seem much like a hunter."
"Not a hunter. You got it right the first time. I'm a powerbind... Or at least thats what the snake girl called me before turning into a snake and leaving..." He swallowed. "Um so yeah... Anyway... Umm.. If you don't mind me asking, what are you?" He asked trying not to sound rude.
Asra had never met a powerbind before, only heard about them. He was the first person she had met who probably wouldn't hate her for being half human. "I promise I won't turn into a snake on you." She said with a smile. She pushed some hair away from her right ear and angled her head towards Jason so he could see her pointed, elvish ear. "I'm an elf." She said.
Jason nods. Of course. An elf. He laughed a bit, "Well thats nice. You see up until a week ago I didn't think that elves were real and now I'm talking to one." He nodded and then bit down on his lip.
Asra smiled and let her hair fall back into place. "You said that you didn't think we were real up until a week ago. Did you only come here a week ago?" She asked. It was making sense now why he was so weirded out.
"Three days ago. But I met an elf about a week ago. Said they were going out to get something from 'beyond the Haven' and found me... And now I'm here..." He sighed and looked at the sky
Clare shook her head and coiled tigher, afraid to open her eyes. She swallowed
Asra nodded, considering his story. It must have been weird, being thrust into this world and having to deal with it. She tried to imagine how she would react being sent to the human world all of a sudden. "You're the first power bind I've ever met." She commented. "In fact you're the first human I've met who hadn't been a hunter."
"Yeah I hear about those people... No idea what they are though..." He frowned and then looked at her and sighed, "SO how's life here in the Haven? Must be nice..."
Asra considered his question. "There are good things and less that good things just like anywhere else, I suppose." She shrugged. "What was your life like before you came here? I mean, What was life like in the human world?"
He thought for a second, pondering the question. He sighed, "Nice I guess. I had a mom and dad and house and whatnot. But whatever, I guess everyone has to undergo changes with their life, but I didn't think mine would be this big of a change..." He trailed off and then sighed again
Asra shrugged. "I guess nobody's life turns out the way they expected." She said. "Some changes are just bigger than others."
"Yeah I hear you." He shook his head. His life was just a big jumbled ball of mess at the moment. His mom and dad didn't know about it, but what they did know was that something happened to him.
Asra nodded, uncertain of what to say next. Maybe Jason would ask her a question, or they would find another topic of conversation.
Jason dug his nails deeper into his palm and then bit his lip, "So your an elf? How does that work?" He wondered. He really didn't know what else to ask.
Asra cocked her head to the side. She didn't quite know what he meant by how elves 'worked'. "Well, I do have powers, enhanced senses and agility and stuff. But I'm not really sure what kind of answer you're going for. Elves do have powers, but other than that..." She shrugged.
Jason nodded, "That sounds pretty cool." He admitted. Actually everything here sounded pretty cool.. For the most part. The blood crazy hunters really didn't make him feel welcome, but other than that this place seemed nice.
"Yeah." She said. "What about you?" She asked. "What's it like being a powerbind?" She wondered, genuinely curious. There wasn't much hard fact on powerbinds, mostly just a lot of rumor and speculation.
"No idea. I'm supposed to be like this superhuman or something, but I don't feel any different." He sighed and then shook his head, "I'm not sure what my power is supposed to be... But whatever. This seems like a nice place..." He bit his lip.
I sigh, and land as best I can, with the lamia crushing my legs. "we're on the ground. you can get off now."
She continued to shake her head and close her eyes tightly. She hissed at him for flying so fast. She wanted to sleep now.
I turn into a snake, so that she can't hold on. I slither over to a rock, and wrap myself around it.
She hissed and then coiled into a ball qs she decided she was going to sleep. She hissed in her sleep and then closed her eyes
I squeeze, and the rock is crushed. I pile the pieces in top of me. I go to sleep, and hope that I don't wake for a while...
She opened one eye and then shifted back to herself as she walked along the side of the lake. She put her figertips in and then sat down.
I wake feeling perkier than I have for a long time. I turn into a human, and walk over to Clare. "sorry about that back there."
Clare looks at him and then shakes her head, "Yeah?" She frowns a bit.
"it's just... i'm not too good at fighting. if I was, I would have charged them, but because i'm not...."
"Your a human..." She said to him a bit confused. She touched the water again and then smiled.
She smiled and then pet his head, "Forgot about that."
