How do you get along with your parents? Are you friends with them?

Well my father died in 1996. I get along well with my mom. She had a long battle with alcoholism for many years but has been clean for more than 2 years. My mom was a beautician for over 30 years and a smoker both of which contributed to her health problems and is now straddled with emphysema which has been that way for almost 8 years now. She lives with us and this disease doesn't get any better. Each day with her is a blessing. Do we always agree? No. But we love one another very much and I am very happy to have her alive and sober. I've always been friends with my mom. Even during the difficult years.

I get along well with my parents. My mother is not only my mother, but also one of my best friends. My dad and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of topics, but we don't antagonize each other about them.
