message 1: by Terese (new)

Terese I'm doing a challenge that includes 50 different kinds of books that I want to read this year (I've read fifty pretty much but they don't all fall within the challenges)

These are a few topics of books that I've found particularly hard to find so I thought I would ask if you guys have any suggestions on these themes;

a book with a number in the title,
a book published this year,
a book written by someone under 30,
a funny book,
a book with antonyms in the title,
a book that came out the year you were born (85)
a book with a color in the title,
a graphic novel,
a book set during Christmas,

Any recommendations within these lines are welcome :D

Terese It's this one from popsugar. I've been picking away at it slowly, lol, because it's a challenge after all but it's quite fun to have to think of different types of books to read. Getting out of that comfort zone :D

Anna There is a lot of things to tick off that list. I don't think I would be able to do it within a year.

Annerlee There's a Goodreads group doing the challenge this year ( 2015 Reading Challenge ) They have a section for each category with examples of what others have chosen.

I'm doing the challenge too, but have only made it up to 35 books so far. I'm really impressed with your progress!

You can see my list so far here if you scroll down to message 69

My book with a number in the title is Station Eleven,
My book published this year will be The Girl on the Train,
My book with antonyms in the title is The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Oh cool, didn't realize there was a group doing it!

And omg, just realized from looking at the suggestions for books with antonyms in the title that I've already read one, just didn't think about it, lol (Big, Little lies by Liane Moriarty) d'oh!

This is great, I won't finish this challenge this year I think but it's fun :)

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna Don't you have to complete it within a year then?

I think you're supposed to finish it in a year,
but it's a fun thing to get you hunting out new books, so I don't think anyone really minds how long you take!

I'm going to try and get finished this year, but I'm not going to get stressed if I don't
; )

The 2015 group was the reason I joined Goodreads!

message 11: by Anna (new)

Anna I wouldn't finish it in a year.

Do a lot of people do challenges? I would love to do one, but never have the reading time needed.

message 12: by Terese (new)

Terese I don't know if a lot of people do. This is my first challenge at least. I learned of it from an internet forum and thought, hey this would be fun and I should get more interactive on Goodreads and voila... here I am, getting interactive-with-it! :) So I'm a bit of a newbie still, mostly because I like living my life with my nose in a book and am always a bit late to internet things ;)

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna I suppose the only challenge I take part in is the reading challenge. I always complete it though and it doesn't really challenge me at all. Think I should give myself a higher book total next year.

Last year was my first challenge, and my goal was 100 books. I can't remember if I did 65 or 71, but I didn't finish it. This year it's just 50, but I'm one book behind schedule again. ;c

message 15: by Terese (new)

Terese I set a 100 last year and didn't finish it. So I set 50 this year and just finished it now actually! So this year I'm way ahead of schedule. Maybe next year I'll set a challenge of 70 or something :)

message 16: by Anna (new)

Anna I only set 15 - 20, can't remember. Haven't even completed it yet lol.

Congratulations on completing your goal Teresa! I've only read 27 books so far... the books I read on Quotev aren't real I don't think, so I guess they wouldn't count. :p

You still have a few months left! I have no doubt you will complete your challenge.

Thank you, I especially appreciate the graphic novel tip, that one had me in a head twist.

Anna What have you decided to read for the rest of the challenge?
