What do you love to read? Who are your favorite authors? What do you do in your spare time?

We'd love to learn more about you!

Ashley Bogner | 29 comments Hello! :)

I love Christian YA, with science fiction and fantasy being my all-time favorite genres. I also like mysteries and historical fiction. Some of my favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Frank Peretti, Krista McGee, and Wayne T. Batson.

My favorite hobby, other than reading, is writing. Additionally, I like to bake and play the guitar.

God bless!

Sierra Faith (bookaddict_98) | 26 comments Hello!! I love Fantasy and Sci-Fi! But I will pretty much read anything as long as it's clean, and preferably Christian.

Oh boy... I have waaay too many favorite authors! But right now I'll say it's Anne Elisabeth Stengl. Working my way through her Tales of Goldstone series.

Welcome, Sierra, Ashley, and Heather! (You are very kind about Jupiter Winds, Heather!)

message 6: by Deena (new)

Deena Hi! I'm Deena Peterson, and I've been a reviewer since 2006. I love books and I'm passionate about authors. My favorite genre is mystery/suspense, but lately I've been into fantasy/science fiction. I'm excited about the new titles available in the Christian marketplace, but would love to see more.

message 8: by Diana (new)

Diana (dianalesirebrandmeyer) | 1 comments Hi! So fun to be invited!
I too write fiction but so love to read! I can never decide who my favorite author is! It changes so much because I think I fall in love with a writing technique then the stories!

When I'm not writing or reading I like to ride my bike, walk and do digital photography with my iphone. I'm on instagram @dianabrandmeyer if you're on there too follow me and I'll follow you back. I love to see photos from other places.

My other big love is my grandson. Not enough space left to describe that joy.

message 9: by Henry (new)

Henry McLaughlin (henrymclaughlinattnet) | 4 comments I write fiction, primarily Westerns. I teach, coach, and mentor other writers.
Currently, I'm working on a fantasy series and I've almost finished book 3.
When I'm not writing, I'm enjoying time with my wife and family. Or, I'm asleep.
Looking forward to being on this group.

message 10: by Marcy (new)

Marcy Dyer (marcy_dyer) | 1 comments I'm an avid reader and writer. As a retired nurse, my current WIP is a medical thriller. I write suspense and am currently going through the edits with my publisher for the fourth and final book in my first series.

Thank you for the invite to the group!

B.J. Robinson (goodreadscombjrobinson) | 1 comments C.J. wrote: "What do you love to read? Who are your favorite authors? What do you do in your spare time?

I'm Barbara Robinson and write as B. J. Robinson. My favorite books are romantic suspense, historical romance, and mystery. Some of my favorite authors are C. J. Darlington, Eva Marie Everson, and Jerry Jenkins. There are too many to list, but I also enjoy discovering new authors in book groups and if I like their book, I watch for others from them. In my spare time, I read, but I spend most of my time writing these days. However, I do keep a Kindle full of books so I have something to read at all times, and I usually read something every day and read more between writing my own books. I might take a break between books and just relax and read. I'm a retired teacher and loving the freedom to write when the whim hits. Thank you for the invitation. Blessings, BJ

Angela Breidenbach (angelabreidenbach) | 1 comments Hi, I'm an author who writes historical, contemporary, and some comedy. I most often set my books in Montana. But the next one from Barbour is set in Fergus Falls, MN because it's based on my grandparent's story (with a fictional variation or two). I'm looking forward to learning from Diana Brandmeyer how to better use Goodreads next week at the MT Pages Retreat so I can do a better job on here :)

message 14: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Leigh (tamaraleigh) | 2 comments Tamara Leigh here--first a writer when I'm on deadline, first a reader in my rare spare time. I enjoy historical (especially medieval) and contemporary romance, as well as historical non-fiction (er, especially medieval). If I had to choose a favorite author--and that's just not fair--it would be Sharon Kay Penman. Oh, and Ariana Franklin, and... :) Thank you for inviting me to join! ~ Tamara

message 15: by Peter (new)

Peter | 7 comments Hi! Peter is my name. I read anything! Including the back of cereal boxes, if nothing else is available. My favorite Christian reads—Tosca Lee, Davis Bunn, CS Lewis, Lori Benton, Jocelyn Green, Colleen Coble, and maybe a dozen or two more! I do some writing, some reading, and a whole lot of history in any form I can get it (read, watch, reenact, museums, chat history, pretend it's the 1800's, etc)!

message 16: by Carol R (new)

Carol R Gehringer (cgehringer) | 1 comments I love to read a wide variety of genre: YA, upper elementary, adult, suspense, hist. fic., spec fiction, fantasy, contemporary, more Christian fiction than not, but I read secular fiction as well. Only read Amish sparingly.

Favorite authors: C. Coble, D. Pettrey, J. Williamson, K. McGee, I. Hannon, M. Dickerson, J. Hedlund, S. Ladd, A. E. Stengl, etc. Like to discover new authors too!

I'm a K-12 school librarian and I write a blog (worthy2read.wordpress.com). Many of my reviews are also published in Christian Library Journal. I try to post them on consumer websites as well.

Love to read, spend time with my teen daughter in the kitchen, play with my maltipoo, etc.

Love to read in a wide range of genres, especially suspense.

message 18: by Vickie (new)

Vickie McDonough | 1 comments Hey, C.J. and everyone,

I love to read and write historical romances. I do like a good suspense too. I grew up watching cowboy shows with my dad, so you could say I'm partial to westerns. For fun, I garage sale and shop estate sales for items to put in my booth at an antique mall.

message 19: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Carter | 7 comments I love to read what I write—romance and romantic suspense. Currently, I'm working on the 6th of a southern romantic suspense series and on the 2nd of a contemporary romance Coast Guard series. I have a fun, Western-themed novella story coming out in a 2016 collection, too. My favorite authors are Catherine Palmer, Lisa Wingate and Becky Wade.

Thank you to CJ for inviting me to join! And yes... like so many others have already said - I LOVED Jupiter Winds! Where's that sequel CJ... *taping her foot somewhat impatiently* LOL!

I'm not good at talking about me so I'll just wrap up with saying I'm thrilled to be here!

I'm an author and a reader who loves historical fiction, literary fiction, mysteries, and thrillers. I write historical fiction and literary fiction. My short stories and essays have been published in numerous literary magazines. My debut Christian historical novel, BLOOD OF A STONE (Tuscany Press), won a 2015 Independent Publisher Book Award in the national category of religious fiction.

For the writers in this group, I also host a blog, Jeanne's Writing Desk, where I post opportunities for writers, including calls for submission, contests and awards, writing conferences, etc. You can check it out here: www.jeannelyetgassman.blogspot.com

I also like to find new books and discuss them. I always gravitate more to Christian fiction, YA, Contemporary, Mystery/Suspense. message 28: by Robin (new)

Robin Willson | 1 comments Hi all!
Thank you for the invitation. I love to read Christian Historical Fiction. I have read some other Christian fiction that I was glad I did so.

I reach for a book during any waiting or down time, plus before going to sleep at night.

I am grateful for the different programs that let me receive free books in return for a review. I've only had one or two so far that I didn't like.

Angela (Kentuckybooklover) Brocato-Skaggs | 6 comments Hello, I'm Angela and I can't think of a time I didn't love to read. I read almost anything but my favorites are mystery, Christian fiction(especially Amish fiction) and Nora Roberts.

I am excited to meet other readers and learn of new author's and books to read.

message 30: by Gophergirl58 (new)

Gophergirl58 (gophergirl) Thanks for the invite, CJ. :)

I am a disabled female, 57 years old, and although my activity is limited, I love our dogs and cats, have always wanted a horse (LOL), and enjoy growing tomatoes and peppers from seed that we grow in our garden and I also give the plants to close friends.

My favorite genre is Christian suspense. I am currently reading Kenneth Zeigler's fictional accounts leading up to the second coming, and finished his first book, "Heaven and Hell," and am now reading the second book in the series, "The War in Heaven." I have also begun the non-fiction book by Pastor David Jeremiah, "Agents of the Apocalypse."

Favorite authors include Marc Cameron (not in the Christian genre, but suspenseful without the F word and a lot of the bad language I abhor), Janice Thompson (when I need some comic relief, and I love her Christian characters as I can so relate to so many of them), Creston Mapes, DON BROWN (I LOVE his naval and military Christian fiction), and others.

message 31: by Carol (new)

Carol | 50 comments I love cozy mysteries and books that have animals in the plot, Regency romance, and historical fiction. I love riding horses and dogs!

Carol... you love riding horses AND dogs? How do the dogs feel about that? ;)

message 33: by Darlene (new)

Darlene Franklin | 1 comments I just erased my answer! Oh dear! Short version: My go-to genre is mystery/thriller, also sci fi, fantasy, historical romance (historical anything), memoirs. I hate choosing favorite authors, but ones who have stuck with me are Amanda Cabot, Kim Vogel Sawyer, Liz Curtis Higgs, Deann Gist, for Christian Fiction. And Stephen James. I live in a nursing home, so my time is spent at the whims of the staff, but I take part in group activities, do word puzzles, and watch TV. And read, of course!

message 35: by Donna (new)

Donna (morethanareview) | 1 comments My favorite is Christian fiction with mystery and bit of romance. My passion is to promote good clean fiction. I have a book review website that allows readers to rate books on content (sex, drug/alcohol, language, violence).
Thanks for the invite. Excited to be a part of the group.

message 36: by Ann (new)

Ann Mock | 8 comments How do you get your book listed on your site? I wrote "The Union of the North and the South" which earned the Readers' Favorite five star seal for Christian Historical fiction. I would also like to check out your web site. I love to read good clean romances too!

message 37: by Nora (new)

Nora St Laurent I like all genre's. I like to mix things up. Having run a book club for 8 years I like to discover new authors and genres!

message 38: by Nora (new)

Nora St Laurent Oh, I'm a reader and reviewer!

message 39: by Mesu (new)

Mesu | 1 comments Hi! I love to read and write biblical novels.

My favorite author...ooooooh, that's a toughy. My favorite biblical fiction of all time is Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion series, and I love Redeeming Love, so Francine probably qualifies as my favorite.

I have a Staffordshire puppy named Zeke who keeps me company while I write, and I'm working on edits for my sixth book, MIRIAM, right now.

Hubby and I love the PNW and are building a little cabin six miles off grid. We have two grown daughters and six grandkids that live too far away!

message 40: by Edward (new)

Edward Arrington | 4 comments I love to read and "discovered" a couple of years ago that writing book reviews was interesting. After working in bank IT and operations for over 40 years, I am retired; therefore I have more time to read than ever before. If I try to list my favorite authors, I will miss someone. The list has grown over the last two years as I have become acquainted with more of them.

Welcome everyone! Great to have you here.

message 42: by S.K. (new)

S.K. My name is Sara and I’m so excited about this group! I am a big lover of words. I’m an avid bookworm, a blogger at skbellblog.blogspot.com, and a writer. (I have several fictional works out and have a 30-day family devotional in the publication process right now. If you’re interested in a free copy to review and help promote, send me a message!)
That being said, I am always in the middle of at least one book, usually one fiction and one non-fiction. I tend to find myself reading lots of Christian non-fiction, but mostly secular fiction. I would love to change that! I am excited to see what you all recommend in the fiction category, and also to share and learn about others’ ideas for Christian fiction for kids. My son is two but loves read-aloud time from chapter books, and he of course loves picture books at the moment too.

message 43: by Kalena (last edited Aug 24, 2015 05:52PM) (new)

Kalena (bookt2) Hello! My reading selections vary, but my favorites are mystery, historical fiction, and non-fiction. My husband and I are making an effort to read (or re-read) classic literature as well. Favorite authors include but are not limited to: Louise Penny, Julie Klassen, Ted Dekker, Tosca Lee, Tim Downs... I love being able to read a clean story even if it delves into serious or controversial topics. We love the outdoors--fishing, biking, gardening, etc. We also love creative endeavors and reading (of course!)

message 44: by Agnieszka (last edited Aug 25, 2015 08:44AM) (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) Hi, I'm Agnieszka was born in Poland but spent most of my life in Germany. I read almost everything expept for Horror and hard-core Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

It's difficult to say what are my favorite authors. I read everything from Janette Oke up to about five years ago as well as the entire Baxter Series by Karen Kingsbury and several other of her works, I like also Irene Hannon, Tracie Peterson, Julie Klassen, DiAnn Mills, Lynette Eason, Dee Henderson, Samantha Fury, Jane Austen, and many more. When I'm reading I'm reading much and different genres but I think my all time favorite is romantic-suspense when it is humorous even better, can be historical but currently I prefer rather contemporary.

Apart from reading my biggest passion are numbers (give me an ecxel-sheet and I'm happy) and love different kind of hand-crafting (knitting, cross-stitch, patchwork, sewing, ...) and play guitar. I'm not so much into sports but nobody's perfect :-)
