We are, coincidentally enough, reading this for our "One Book, One San Diego" library challenge in November!
I am going to sit this one out. I read a sample of it and I think I read it years ago. I can't remember what happened in it, but I vaguely remember it. See you guys next month!
So far, I find this book much easier to read than I expected. Also, I had read a couple of places that this book is slow - but so far I haven't felt that.
As soon as I started this I was reminded of Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Book Store. And, when I met Clara, I was a little reminded of The Night Circus.

I loved The Night Circus! I started this a couple of years ago and just wasn't sucked in, but need to read it soon.
You push me...in a nice way! ;)

It's interesting - I have heard a lot of people say this one did not suck them in. I am not sure if the first 30 pages is enough of a representative example, but I am not finding this to be an issue for me. We will see if that continues during my lunch break today!

I read the Angel's Game which is sort of a prequel to the Shadow of the Wind and so I wanted to read this book as well. It's a bit slow at first but I'm waiting to see if it can sustain the mystery that it did in Angel's Game.
