Biana When I asked my 20 and 21 year old daughters what book came to mind when I said "book from your youth" they both quickly and excitedly said "Jamberry!! by Bruce Degan." So I figured that I needed to post this!

Jamberry was obviously a favorite book in our household. And when my brother had his son (now ages 3.5), I not only bought the book for his collection, I brought along our own copy so that he could see just how tortured/loved it was (whole pages kept together by packing tape). When he started to read the book (as one does when gifted something for their first child), all three of us (me and my girls) started reciting the words..."one berry, two berry, pick me a blueberry." My brother was amused enough to keep going...and we kept up with him, able to recite the entire book without seeing the pages. We each has a favorite page (mine is "Quick berry, quack berry, pick me a blackberry" but one kid loves the "Strawberry ponies, strawberry lambs, dancing in meadows of strawberry jam" because of the dancing ponies!)

Obviously, the first gift each daughter will receive upon announcing her impending motherhood will be her own copy. The one that is beat up? That stays with me forever.
