((I'll try (x ))

Patrick sat in the back row of the classroom, the solitary row in which no other person sat. It was exactly why he liked it, it gave him a good view of his classmates and good opportunities to scout them whilst being ignored. It was especially useful when assessing his victims though he had to be extremely careful with these psych majors, or even the minors, although they were provably too stupid and caught up in their own little worlds to decipher him. God, how he hated them all. With that happy though in mind, he looked around the room, a bitter taste in his mouth. All these people. They made him sick with their fake sympathy and concerned expressions as if anyone were to buy it, well, some, unfortunately, did. He was usually the first to arrive to class like a teachers pet but he just liked to be punctual. When things weren't going according to plan, it drove him nuts. He always, always had to be in control, thanks to his OCD. Pat was just about to rest his eyes a little when he spotted his latest soon-to-be victim. The gorgeous brunette with the coffee brown eyes and the quiet demeanor. An exact match to his MO, a girl who would drive him up the wall with desire but with the need for restraint.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Kassy absently tapped the end of her pencil against her desk, only half listening as the professor did his usual morning routine. He always thought he was hilarious, which Kassy found more amusing than his jokes. But he was a good professor and knew what he was doing. After all, it was practically a requirement for psychology professors to be on the odd side. Looking over her classmates with curiosity, her gaze happened to land on a young man at the very back on his own. When she happened to meet his gaze, she flashed him a small smile and gave a wave before turning back in her chair.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick's eyes widened a bit as her gaze wandered over to him. The side of his mouth tilted upward slightly in more of an amused smile. He'd been told many times that he was handsome and for that reason he messed little with his appearance, trying to make it less obvious. He wondered what most people thought of him at a first glance, he was provably viewed as the quiet type, which he was but he wondered sometimes if people saw him as harmless. If only they were to see past his charade, to see his true colors. Only then would that amused smile of his seem creepy. His attention snapped up front to Dr. Mitchell as he droned on about introductions and practical jokes to break the ice. Patrick liked Dr. Mitchell, he'd had him before and despite that nervous habit on babbling, he was a good teacher.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Then, like a switch going off, Dr. Mitchell dove into the lesson for the day. Kassy leaned forward slightly as she listened and wrote down notes, always fascinated over the varying parts of psychology. The parts of the brain, disorders, how things work. This class in particular, though, was going over the mental processes of thoughts, desires, and decisions.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

((I know! I was just looking for it, it should be there now.))

Patrick obligingly took decent notes and wrote down questions, concerns, and other ideas. Soon enough, the time had gone by and Dr. Mitchell's lesson came to a conclusion. He dismissed the students as he too packed his own bags. Patrick stood and fixed his things before walking down the stairs hastily and accidentally bumping into his new prey. He smiled and apologized fiercely. "I'm so sorry," he kept saying, looking into her eyes for any expression or understanding with a friendly and feigned smile.

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Brushing her hair away from her face, Kassy recognized the person who bumped into her the one she spotted earlier. Shaking her head, which made her hair fall back into her face, she smiled. "No, it's all right. There's so many people anyways, it was bound to happen sometime," she said lightly.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick chuckled before grinning at her. "Maybe I could make it up? Coffee?" Sure, it was lame but it was all he could think of. Besides, he needed her to warm up to him and he needed to get to know her better.

message 10: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Pursing her lips as she thought, Kassy debated whether it was something she should do with a stranger. But it could do no harm to make friends, she supposed, and especially since they were in the same class. Giving a small nod, she told him, "Sure. Lunch or tomorrow morning?"

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick was quick to think on his feet. Anytime with her would be useful, but the sooner the better. He looked at his watch, he had one more class before lunch was due. "Lunch would be better for me, we could go over some notes." He suggested, his hands fidgeting around awkwardly as he waited for her response.

message 12: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Sounds good. Where shall we meet? I have a class before lunch, so I might be a little late," she said, readjusting the strap of her bag of her shoulder as she began to head out of the room.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded as he too had a class before then. He should memorize her schedule if he was to know everything about her. "Why don't we meet by the Cox building then?" He asked, looking at his watch. The teacher would consider him late in about five minutes.

message 14: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Cox building it is," she said, mentally noting it in her mind. She might forget, but then again, her next class was in the Cox so she might run into the young man again. Raising her hand, Kassy gave a little twirl of her fingers. "Well, see you around, um... you?"

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

"I'm Patrick," he called as she began to turn and make her way to her next class. He waved before she'd turned the full way and made his way to his philosophy class.

message 16: by Ji Mei (last edited Feb 20, 2014 04:57PM) (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "All right. See you around, Patrick," Kassy said, flashing him a smile and walked on her way, forgetting to give her name in return.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

((Yesh :3))

Patrick walked out of his class about an hour later and made his way to the Cox building. He stood there, waiting for the girl who he couldn't place a name to. Patrick looked at his watch impatient, he was on time and she appeared to be late, no matter, he'd punish her all he wanted when he had her under his thumb.

message 18: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Instead of putting her books and pieces of paper in her bag, Kassy just gathered them quickly up into her arms, realizing that she was late. Pushing the doors open with her back, she spotted the young man and hurried over. Giving him an apologetic smile, she told him hastily, "Sorry about that. My professor likes to get off topic a lot. Did I make you wait long?"

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick offered a polite smile and shook his head to answer her question. His hands reached out, offering to take the books or at least help, "Need a hand?" He started to walk away, leading her into the parking lot, towards his car on the fourth floor.

message 20: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Sure," she barely managed to say before he had taken some the two heaviest textbooks on top of the pile that was in her arms. Following after him until she caught up, she added casually, "I'm Kassy, by the way. I just remembered I never told you my name."

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick chuckled, "That's a nice name." He switched the books over to one arm and with the other he dig into his pocket for his car keys. The sound the car made announced that it was now unlocked. He opened the back door and dumped the books in. "So, umm, coffee?" He asked, as his stomach grumbled for something more.

message 22: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Kassy was bending next to him to put her bag away when she caught the sound of his stomach. Raising a brow, she gave him a look of amusement. "Maybe not just coffee, it seems. Why not have lunch together as well?" she suggested.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick gave a fake sigh of relief, "Lunch sounds so much better." He opened his door and climbed in just as she settled in next to him. "What are you in the mood for?" He started the car and drive down the long parking lot, reaching the campus entrance a minute later, thinking about what he wanted and waiting for her answer.

message 24: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Anything sounds good. Chinese, Italian, whatever you want," Kassy replied, giving a shrug. She wasn't a particularly picky person when it came to eating, which probably was one of the few praises her mother gave her when she was little. But thinking of mother wasn't good, so she pushed those thoughts away as she turned to glance over at Patrick.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick's mouth tilted upward in an appreciative grin. "Italian it is then," he said as the light turned green and he sped away to a small restaurant he'd been to a couple of times before. "Are you majoring in Psych too?" Even as he asked, he really hoped she wasn't. It would make things more difficult to hide from her.

message 26: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Yes," she confirmed and nodded. "I really find the subject fascinating, you know? You never know what people are thinking or feeling." Kassy watched the buildings pass by, curious what Italian restaurant he was taking her. Admittedly, she hadn't been out much, and so she only knew a few restaurants.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded as he pondered her words. He reflexively swallowed down a lump in his throat called warning. "What year are you in?" He asked, it was sad that he was taking this much time to know her and the trouble if his urges where just gonna end up killing her.

message 28: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Hmm?" She turned her dark brown eyes on him, blinking slightly as she focused back on the present. As Kassy was staring out the window, she had briefly wandered back to why she wanted to go into psychology. "Oh, I'm a senior. What about you?" she asked curiously.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick smiled although the fact bothered him, needless to say he was faking his smile. "Same. Are you a transfer student? I haven't seen you around before... Today." It was the first day of the semester and most student either took the class for credits or to minor or major in Psych.

message 30: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Nodding, she smiled. "Yeah. My family moved recently and it was no longer possible for me to go to the college near home. So, instead, I decided to go across the country and not really bother with them," Kassy explained nonchalantly.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded as he steered the car into a parking lot over flowing with fragrant flowers. The restaurant was fairly close to campus, on the first exit off the freeway. He stepped out of the car, but didn't bother opening the door for her, he decided to believe chivalry was dead, that's not say he was a complete asshole who demeaned women. "Where'd you come from?" They walked into the restaurant and where seated immediately since it was pretty much empty.

message 32: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Getting out on her own, not in the least thinking about chivalry, Kassy followed after him. "Oh, from the west coast. I lived a few hours outside of San Diego." Really, she came from a small town that anyone heard of, but it always seemed to make her flashier if she mentioned one of the big cities.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded, his lips pursing as he noted this, but her eyes seemed to flash. There was a glint in her eye, like if she were hiding sometimes. He pulled out his chair and sat as the waitress came over.

message 34: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Taking a seat opposite, Kassy had to think when was the last time she went to a restaurant with so few a number of people. Perhaps it was because she'd always been invited to parties and so the restaurants she went to were hectic and loud. Glancing over at Patrick, she asked, "What do you think of getting?"

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

"Maybe some pasta," he pondered, answering her question lamely. That was all pretty much all he knew about Italian food, cheese, pasta, and more cheese. He gave her a charming grin before raising an eyebrow at her, "You?"

message 36: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Kassy couldn't help but smile back, finding his grin infectious. "Maybe some pasta," she said, giving a shrug, purposefully using his words. "Or maybe some stuffed bell peppers," she added.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

"Hi, are you guys ready to order or do you need more time?" Said the perky waitress, flashing them a bright smile. Patrick nodded, "I'll have some Fettuccine Alfredo, with some iced tea..." He trailed off and looked at Kassy expectantly.

message 38: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Just water for me and I think I'll take the stuffed bell peppers," she said, slowly as she looked at the menu. Then she gave a nod to herself and held up the menu. "That's all for me."

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick gave the waitress a flirtatious smile before handing her the menu. She gave them both a grin as her cheeks darkened to pink and spun around to get their food without another word. "Why are you interested in Psych?"

message 40: by Ji Mei (last edited Feb 22, 2014 12:47PM) (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Tilting her head, Kassy attempted to brush her dark hair away from her face, then she gave up and let the strands fall into her eyes. "Other than knowing what's in people's minds, I guess it's because I just want to understand people. I want to see what they see, understand how they feel, and if need be, help them," she explained, looking down and playing with the edge of the napkin on the table. Though she wasn't too attached to her mother, it was still a blow when it happened and she even felt scared she might end up the same.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded as he ponders her words. He began to wonder if she could see through him, the real him. There was something much more intriguing about her, it was more that her looks and curiosity. He had to have her, she would be a wonderful addition to his collection.

message 42: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Inwardly taking a deep breath, Kassy cleared those thoughts away and her eyes rose up to meet his. A faint smile curled her lips. "What about you? What made you choose psychology?" she asked with curiosity.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick cocked his head slightly at the distant look in her eyes. He wanted to know what she was thinking but if he asked, it would've been intruding and impolite. He visibly swallowed down another lump in his throat and recounted a story that was only half fake, "When I was younger, my life was very complicated and messy. People close to me died all the time, whether it was from suicide or just cruel fate. I just want to know, is it really misfortune or is it someone's fault?"

message 44: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments A spark of understanding shone in Kassy's dark brown eyes. Unfortunately, she wasn't the only one to have the experience of a suicide of someone close. It made her feel a thread of connection to him, one she didn't expect. Perhaps it was a good thing she allowed herself to try to get to know him. Giving a small nod, she replied, "That is the same question many of us face."

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick smiled as his eyes shone with appreciation. He cleared his throat and shook his head quickly. "So, how'd you like class?" He reached for his bag but forgot he'd left it I the car.

message 46: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Well, it certainly not the most exciting thing in the world, but, to me, I just get captured by the things the professor says. I can't wait when we get to the unit of the mental disorders." Then Kassy blushed and gave him a sheepish smile. "Ah, that probably sounds weird, doesn't it?"

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick chuckled softly, "Not at all." He smiled and cleared his throat. The waitress came back with a jar of iced tea and won't her with water. She served them their drinks and offered an apologetic smile. "Your food will be ready soon," with that she spun and walked to the kitchen.

message 48: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments Taking her glass, she absently stirred the ice around with her straw. "What about you, Patrick? Maybe next class you can sit next to me?" Kassy looked over at him with a raised brow. She didn't exactly expect him to to take up her offer, but she thought the young man had seemed lonely when she saw him at the back of class.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Patrick nodded, considering this like weighing options. It would get him closer to her, literally, and until she was gone, he didn't need to observe anyone else. "Sure," he responded after clearing his throat. "And I always enjoy those classes."

message 50: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) | 1755 comments "Then you and I will have a great time together in class," Kassy said with a smile. "Though, I'll to warn you, a lot of people around me like to chat for some reason. Don't know why they all think I'll listen to them, but it is what it is."
