This was a movie I loved for years before I knew it was a book. Then I read the book and was shocked!! They are so different!! The biggest difference that bothered me was the relationship between Ella and Charmont. In the movie they barley know each other, whereas in the book they write letter back and forth for a LONG time, getting to know one another and really developing this beautiful relationship.
My roommate and I used to joke that the people who made the movie just read the back of the book and then went ahead and made the movie based on it...no reading of the book ever seemed to exist!

Spend my morning drinking coffee and re-reading Ella Enchanted. Was again blown away by how much more shallow the relationship between Ella and Char is in the movie compared to the book! Also, got to read the book on my kindle after checking it out from the library! Gotta love it! :D

Jessica I liked the book. And the movie was okay, they could have done better though.

Rachel I read the book when I was a kid, and completly forgot that it was a book before the movie was released. The book to screen adaption was not at all the same. Both are entertaining on their own levels. However, I liked the book better.

I agree. For me they are totally separate stories and I like them both, but it is almost a joke to say they are "the same" at all since they changed just about everything in the book when making the movie!

Yup! The book is totally different than the movie, but amazing!! They are pretty much different stories entirely.....

Louisa Knight | 156 comments That'll be another books to add to my list.. This list is becoming ridiculously long haha

I have made it my goal to get some of the books from my to-read list read, but then someone tells me about new books and the list gets longer once again..... I have just accepted that I will never have time to read all the books I want to!

Louisa Knight | 156 comments Haha! That is exactly the same with me I'll get round to reading my actual 'to-read' list when I can!

My roommate and I said the same thing!! Everything that made it in the movie was from the cover, and then they added SO MUCH!! It was annoying..... But still a good movie, jut NOTHING like the book really!

hahaha Yeah....that would be a little weird! The movie could not be much further from the book if they tried.... I love the movie for what it is...but what it is NOT is like the book! ;)

I read the book in public school, and was very excited when the movie came out. I thought it could have been better, and was rather disappointed.

This is one I am SOOOO glad I saw the movie first, since it is a great movie...it just has NOTHING to do with the book... I treat them as two totally separate things, not related at all, so then I can still like each one for what they are. I am sure if I read it first I would HATE the movie! haha

Maria | 6 comments The book was one of my favorites as a kid, but I couldn't finish watching the movie. It was just so different from the book.

Electric Bubbles (electricbubbles) | 21 comments I used to read this book every time I got sick, so.....6 times? 7? 10? But I was warned that the movie didn't follow, so I had my expectations low. So I did enjoy the movie! It was better than I hoped. It's just not the same as the book.

Roseanne (rschmread) Read this book first in 5th grade or something for a school summer reading list and the doZens of times since. Lost my original copy of the book and i am pretty sure i gave away my worn second copy. I love it. The movie is like a cliffs notes version of it bit it is still alright. By far not the worst screen adaption of a book.

I like describing it as the Cliff's Notes version. Cuz....yeah... haha I for sure keep them in my head as different works completely!
