Lindsey (mrazfan) | 5 comments So after I'm done reading Bourne Identity I want a chick lit, something lighter. Any suggestions? Anything new & good? I already am starting Eat, Pray, Love... I want something fictional & fun.

message 2: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 19 comments I just read "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin and I'm starting "Something Blue" which is the sequel. Lots of fun, not too deep. Check it out.

message 3: by Diane (new)

Diane | 20 comments "Jemima J" by Jane Green or any of Cecilia Ahern's books.

message 4: by Emily (new)

Emily (teaandscribbles) | 8 comments Emily Griffin is good I recommend those too. Also, Sophie Kinsella who wrote the confessions of a shopaholic series is great.

message 5: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 19 comments Sophie Kinsella's other books like "Can You Keep a Secret" and "Undomestic Goddess" are great too.

message 6: by Jewelz (new)

Jewelz (galijewelz) | 8 comments Willow Springs by Jan Watson if you like romance and western...very good book.

message 7: by Liz (new)

Liz | 17 comments I just finished Hester Browne's The Little Lady Agency, it was a easy, good read, I just love the British Chick lit.

message 8: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (mrazfan) | 5 comments Thanks everyone. Jemima J is my fave chick lit! haha, so good call there. I think I own Something Borrowed but haven't read yet. I don't like the Shopaholic books but will have to definitely check out the other suggestions. I am going to be on a plane so hope to get some good reading in!

message 9: by Emily (new)

Emily (teaandscribbles) | 8 comments Just as a note I don't think you should judge Sophie Kinsella off her Shopaholic books. I am and I think others are to that her other books are much better than Shopaholic.

message 10: by Kati (new)

Kati (kati_01) | 3 comments If you are looking for something lighter, if you have not read Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger(author of The Devil Wears Prada), I highly recommend it. I loved it!!

message 11: by Kim (new)

Kim Marian Keyes books are hysterical. I recommend Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married, and Rachel's Holiday from her.

Also Candace Bushnell's
4 Blondes & also Trading Up.

Another great one is The Perfect Manhattan by Leanne Shear.

message 12: by Amy (new)

Amy | 6 comments Kati,

I loved Everyone Worth Knowing!! I actually liked it better than The Devil Wears Prada! I would definately recommend the book!

message 13: by Rachael (new)

Rachael Right now, I'm reading The Boleyn Inheirtance. I love it.

message 14: by Mary (new)

Mary (marycastillo) I hope its okay to announce but I'm giving away a signed copy of Marta Acosta's book, Happy Hour at the Casa Dracula! Check out www.marycastillo.com for all the details.

Best,
Mary

message 15: by Diane (new)

Diane | 20 comments Oh, good - I'll have to add the Boleyn Inhertiance to my "To Read" list. I've read the Constance Princess, the Other Boleyn Sister and now I'm reading the Virgin Lover - so far it's really good. I liked the Constance Princess the best though.

message 16: by Rachael (new)

Rachael I am now reading the Constant Princess. I really enjoyed the Boleyn Inheirtance but not as much as The Other Boleyn Girl.

Charlene McConnell | 7 comments Just finished reading Sophia Kinsella's Remember Me? Very funny, read it in one day.

Charlene

♥ Marlene♥ | 8 comments Hi there. I am reading now my first Cecilia Ahern book. PS I love you. Have read 1/5th of it and liking it a lot. My kind of humour.
I also bought 3 new chick lit books

The Chocolate Lover's Club and the sequel (2008)
The Chocolate Lover's Diet by Carole Mathews

and Seeing me Naked by Liza Palmer.
Lately I am in a chick lit mood. ;)

message 19: by Liz (new)

Liz | 13 comments I loved Seeing me Naked!

message 20: by Liz (new)

Liz | 13 comments I am now reading Cecilia Ahern's "Theres no place like Here"

message 21: by Kim (new)

Kim This isn't typical chick lit, but I am reading "Are you there, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" by Chelsea Handler.

She is hysterical! If you've read her first collection of memoirs, "My Horizontal Life", this one is just as laugh out loud quick witted. :)

message 22: by Becca (new)

Becca (becca2) | 16 comments LIZ: I just bought that There's No Place Like Here and it will be the first *novel* I've read by Cecilia Ahern. I've only read her short stories in the past.

KIM: I'm trying to decide whether to go to Chelsea's book signing tomorrow here in Houston for Are you there, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea. I think she is hilarious as all get out!

message 23: by Abby (new)

Abby I loved My Horizontal Life and am waiting impatiently for Are you there, Vodka? to come into my library. She's very funny. You should totally go to the signing!

♥ Marlene♥ | 8 comments Well I have read lots of chick lit.
Finished PS I love you and loved it :)

Then I ordered 2 books by Carole Matthews on play.com.
The Chocolate Lover's Club and The Chocolate Lover's Diet. Finished book 2 yesterday.
Then I picked Seeing me Naked and that is what I am reading now.
Just with the first book by Liza Palmer (Conversations with The Fat Girl) it did take me a while to get in to it. Hope it will get better soon.

O and I received a lot of chick lit books through swaps and bookcrossing.
* Remember Me? By Sophie Kinsella. (swap)
* Double Trouble by Claire Cross (exchange on bookobsessed)
* My Fake Wedding by Mina Ford (Exchange on bookobsessed)
and not sure if these 2 are chick lits?

* Hollywood Girls Club by Maggie Marr (won in contest)
* Nearlyweds by Beth Kendrick (Mooched on bookmooch)

Do you girls know any of these books? any good?

message 25: by Samara (new)

Samara I'm with one of the earlier posters in that I really like Kinsella's other books better than the Shopaholic series. I just read Remember Me? a couple of weekds ago and loved it, one of her best in my opinion. Just finished Something Borrowed and Something Blue, they were good. Nobody in chick lit has been able to top Marian Keyes for me though, I laugh and cry when I read her books, they are great!

Currently I'm reading a sort of chick lit series, "Dead End Dating" (Kimberly Raye), about a matchmaking vampire. Cute, fluffy reads.

message 26: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 9 comments I am about halfway through "Then We Came to the End" by Joshua Ferris, but I'm having trouble following it and I'm a bit disappointed given all the hype the book received. I'm not sure if it's the style it's written in, or that the plot isn't really working for me...wondered if anyone else had read this.

message 27: by Celeste (new)

Celeste (celestelueck) | 1 comments I just finished The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. Very fast, feel good read. This you're a chick lit girl this one's for you.

message 28: by Megan (new)

Megan | 5 comments I'm almost finished with remember me? kinsella's latest, and while I laugh and enjoy her books, I feel like they are all the same. Even though this isn't the shopaholic series, its still the same type of character and a similiar predicament and we'll see if its a similiar ending? Does anyone else think this?

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Strack (netsiren) | 1 comments I'm reading "Mommy Tracked" by Whitney Gaskell

message 30: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (kkhamblin16) I just finished Love the One Your With, the new Emily Giffin book. I thought it was just alright, nothing compared to Something Blue, which is one of my favorite Chick-lit reads.

message 31: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Matthews | 15 comments I totally agree! I was dissapointed in the book. Her first two were by far the best. Baby Proof was okay, but I didn't like this one much.

message 32: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) I totally agree with you both...I loved the first two books she wrote...but I just found myself at odds with the female main characters in her last two. I just can't fathom not wanting to be a mother..or almost semi-cheating on the perfect husband for an awful guy. The women in the first two books were just so much more like-able in my mind I guess. I still liked the last two but that element was just really lacking,

message 33: by Kathi (new)

Kathi | 1 comments I love the Dixie Cash books!

message 34: by Erin (new)

Erin (erinferno) Yes of course, Jemima J is classic chick lit. I felt like it was watching reality tv...just couldn't look away.

I also just finished Love, Rosie by Cecilia Ahern. The entire book is written in letters, notes and emails. I thought it might be weird but then I felt like I was snooping through someones personal lives. It was awesome!

message 35: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I just started reading Emily Giffin's newest, a few chapters in, so far so good.

message 36: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) I'm halfway through The Last Day the Dogbushes Bloomed by Lee Smith...not chick-lit but it's what I'm reading.

message 37: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (kkhamblin16) I am currently The Other Boleyn Girl and I can't put it down...

message 38: by Cyndi (new)

Cyndi (chill77) I am reading your post and "Chasing Harry Winston" is one that a girlfriend and I both want to read. I was wondering, how do you find out the book club selection for each month?

message 39: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Two books I highly recommend are "God Shaped Hole" and "How to Kill a Rockstar" by Tiffani DeBartolo. I just loved the characters in both books and never wanted to put them down!

message 40: by Liz (new)

Liz | 13 comments I loved god shaped hole!

message 41: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh...have you read "How to Kill a Rockstar?" then? If not you really should, it's fabulous! I keep waiting and waiting for her to write another book. I just really enjoy her characters.

message 42: by Liz (new)

Liz | 13 comments I haven't read that one I think I looked at it before and wasn't sure how it would be but I am going to add it to my to read list. Thanks! :-)

message 43: by Terrea (new)

Terrea (terreawithat) I can't find How to Kill a Rockstar... who wrote it?

message 44: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Tiffani DeBartolo

message 45: by Kim (new)

Kim I'm currently reading Eat, Pray, Love
by Elizabeth Gilbert.
I had heard so many great things about this book, it being a bestseller for so long, and "Oprah-fied" :)
I'm only on page 80something & loving it. It is sad and funny, and she is just honest and such a great narrator of her journeys.
I just wanted to recommend for anyone looking for a great author.

message 46: by Iris (new)

Iris | 1 comments I just finished reading Persuading Annie by Melissa Nathan. She's an Engligh author and I really like her books.

Ashley (bookworm84) (bookworm84) I just finished "Secrets of a Shoe Addict" by Beth Harbison and loved every minute of it.
