The streets of Athens. Lined endlessly with cafes, plazas, temples and houses.

Her face was shrouded in darkness, but he knew as soon as he saw her shadowed form, heard her melodic voice. How?She had been his punishment. The only time he had ever found the light of life, the only time he'd let someone in that far, the only time he'd had something he truly feared to lose. His only fear and his only love--yes, love. She'd been the only one who could ever at times the darkness that always shrouded what remained of his soul, and when she'd been lost to Hades, it returned stronger than it had ever been. He'd embraced it, drowned himself in it. Every spiteful act was revenge on the world for what had been taken from him. Hades had killed her, truly killed her--her soul would never walk the halls of the underworld. Everything she had been was gone, nothing, erased even from all memory but his. His punishment.
How, then? His heart was pounding, and the tide of fear rose in him once more like an old enemy he'd forgotten for so long. Unconsciously, he breathed her name, a whisper on the wind: "Atra..."
A mortal woman who had touched the heart of Death.
Atra looked up ¨You did?¨ She allowed him a rare smile.Lucas thought he had heard something. He desperately tried to hide the burning in his cheeks.
Thanatos swirled about her, debating whether to reveal himself. For anyone else, the choice would have been easy. But letting her in again: it meant making himself vulnerable once more; it meant letting go of the walls he'd worked so hard to build; it meant that the fear now swirling in his chest would be his constant companion. How?
He'd forgotten the boy. He whirled, eyes seeking him out. What business had he with her? He took in his reddened cheeks, the smile, the look in his eyes, and knew. The fear was gone in an instant, replaced by a flash of white-hot, consuming rage. How dare he? How dare this mortal infringe on what was rightfully his? He stretched out a hand, his thirst for a satisfaction of his wrath irresistibly blinding him as he took in the sheer audacity of this presumptuous demigod.((Permission to kill Lucas?))
At the last instant, he stayed his hand, his fury beyond expression. The boy would suffer, yes, but not here, not now. Some small part of his mind timidly proffered the consequences of such action--the boy was a son of Apollo, after all--and was answered with a resounding roar from his drowning rage. His eyes flashed between the boy and the mortal woman. He saw their contact and a silent scream of fury was torn from his lips, unheard by mortal ears. A stabbing bolt of fiery pain shot through Lucas' chest--not enough to kill him, but excruciatingly agonizing.
He sensed her presence, and took on a more physical form than the shadows he had been, still invisible and inaudible to mortals, distracting him from Lucas and temporarily relieving his pain. "What business have you here!"
Aph didn't speak, didn't move. But the smile etched on her face, still remained, she knew she'd been right
He turned his face away, unable to bear it, to face her features gazing cooly back at him as Aphrodite. "Don't." The single syllable contained all his bitterness, all his rage, all his despair. His features remained unchanged, but his voice gave him away. He flitted away, dissolved into shadows once more.
(sorry typo, computer doesn't like it)Aph turned to Thanatos "why did you lie? you can't hide, what you don't understand"
He couldn't help it. He flew away, swift as a bird, tormented by his shame. He couldn't let her see him, not like this. He couldn't face her. His cry of despair echoed hollowly through the streets, unheard by mortals ears, as he fled, helplessly consumed with fear.
Aph stared at him "why? i want answers!! why did you lie??, you said you had no lover, no mortal" she said narrowing her eyes, they flashed red in anger
He found himself held back, tied to his past as with chains of torment. Still invisible to mortal eyes, he gazed into those of Aphrodite and turned his face away, unable to bear the sight of Atra's eyes gleaming out at him like shards of crystal. Don't, he mouthed, begging her.
she swiftly turned around, taking on Luca's perception of beauty "come back Thanatos, you have to face Atra"
It was she, not Aphrodite, that stopped him. He slowly stood, fear, grief, and anger swelling in his chest, as his physical form took shape from a swirl of shadow. His expression at first was carefully unreadable as he raised his head and met Atra's eyes.
