"Let's make our nests together!" Whisperpaw mewed enthusiastically as she picked up a moss ball she had been told to gather earlier for her nest. "That spot look okay?" She flicked her tail near the entrance to the den that had a thick bramble covering.
There were old nests there from previous apprentices, but the dips in the stone needed fresh moss in order to be comfortable and cozy. Whisperpaw tore apart her ball into long strips and placed them inside the nest. "I can't believe Stormstar made you her apprentice. That's awesome!"
Foxpaw yawned when he walked into the apprentice den. He smirked when he saw the small nests and went to his, around the corner of the entrance. It was bigger since he was the oldest kit. Also, it was good for getting the good prey first. He rested down in his soft, comfortable nest and fell asleep.
Darkpaw blushes, "I know! It's so awesome!" She says excited. "I can't wait until my first lesson!!"
"Me too! I wonder where Willowleaf went!" Whisperpaw mewed as she kept making her nest. "Do you want to explore the territory first or try battle moves?"
"I want to explore! Learning battles move would be fun and all, but I want to see all of our territory!" Darkpaw said, her eyes shinning.
Whisperpaw nodded, "Yeah! I want to go on a border patrol too! And learn how to hunt!" Her voice was full of enthusiasm. She had finished placing moss and was rolling around in her nest now, testing its comfort.
Whisperpaw crouched and wriggled her haunches, getting ready to pounce. She waited for Darkpaw to be ready to pounce as well.
Foxpaw woke up and bared his teeth. He shoved Whisperpaw into the ground and pinned her there. He also kicked Darkpaw away pretty hard. Then he realized it wasn't a dream.
Whisperpaw mewled and fought under her brother's paw before managing to escape. "Geez Foxpaw. We were just playing."
Foxpaw jumped off of Whisperpaw with shock in his eyes. "I thought you were Shadowclan." He said. Then he looked at Darkpaw. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"We most definitely are not ShadowClan!" Whisperpaw huffed and cuffed her brother on the ear before turning to Darkpaw.
Foxpaw growled a bit but then stood taller. "Thanks for interruption my nap!" He scolded and then crawled back into his nest. He fell asleep again.
"Let's go lay down. You'll feel better." Whisperpaw steadied her sister and pressed against her side.
"It's okay. Willowleaf will come get me when he's ready for my first day." Whisperpaw mewed and curled up against her sister's warmth.
Whisperpaw nodded, "Okay! Sweet dreams." She rested her head on her paws and day dreamed about going out into the forest to explore.
"Sure! But we should take some prey into the elder's den before we eat." Whiserpaw jumped to her feet and waved her tail happily as she squeezed out of the apprentice's den.
Foxpaw awoke and stretched. He rolled out of his nest and smiled. "Oh! It's my first day of training!" He exclaimed and bounded out.
Foxpaw raced into the apprentice den and bounced into his nest. It was so soft and made like a birds nest. He cozied in and waited for his sisters.
Whisperpaw bounded around. "See! We have this huge den to ourselves!"
"Yes it is a lot more spacious than when I was an apprentice." Roseclaw purred.

Foxpaw smiled and turned onto his back. He yawned and let his arms dangle over the sides of the nest. The wind ruffled his fur and carried with it a leaf. It landed on his nose and Foxpaw stared at it. "The seasons are changing!" He exclaimed.
Roseclaw shivered, "You're right." She had always enjoyed the colors of the trees during leaf-fall. "Are you excited for your first leaf-fall? It's very important we hunt as much as we can, leaf-bare is always quick and scarce of prey."
Foxpaw stopped and stood taller. "Me too." He said. "I caught three rabbits already! I think I can survive."
Roseclaw beamed down at her kits, "Now, would you three mind if I made my nest in here for a few days? I had a ball of moss prepared to make one in the warrior's den, but... after everything that has happened."
Foxpaw raised an eyebrow. "Mom, aren't you supposed to be in the warriors den?" He asked. "You're not as young as you think!"
"Someone has to look out after you!" Roseclaw mewed sternly. "What if the rogue snuck in while you were sleeping." She flicked her tail tip. That was only part of her reasoning, but she didn't want to tell them the rest.
"I think it's a great idea!" Whisperpaw mewed happily. "I'll go get the moss!" She darted out of the den.
