Who else hates YA Books?

I like YA books but I do hate some of them because they have happy endings (*cough*Ignite Me *cough*)
I don't mind happy endings. I just mind the actual writing style. For example...two book son the same topic (genre). Both set in small towns in 1460s Italy. Which is the YA book, which is the adult one?
A lie.
I needed a fresh lie to help me escape the house this day. Call it “deceit,” I corrected myself as I threw another log in the furnace, enduring its searing blast on my face before shutting the iron door with a clank. I had chosen the fattest log in the woodpile. The bigger it was the longer the fire would burn without needing tending—all part of my deceit. Use the word, Caterina, I scolded myself. You will be telling Papa a lie so you can run barefoot in the hills today instead of doing your chores.
or
"Elisabetta, where are you going?"
Oh, and I was so close to the door. Ah, well. I descend from tiptoe and walk from the corridor into the kitchen. ON the cutting counter in front of her lie a skinned hare, raisins, pine nuts. "The garden is lovely this morning, Mamma." I lean around her shoulder from behind and kiss her cheek. "but if you want help, of course I'll stay."
What's so bad about adults reading them?
Not all YA books have happy endings
I don't get what the big deal is...YA books are targeted towards a certain age group just like Middle Grade books are, just like Adult books are. People of all ages read into other categories sometimes.
It's not that I have a problem if an adult loves a YA book because I'm a YA and I love adult books and that would make me a hypocrite (which I am sometimes). It's that they're all the same...

I would agree that there is definitely a common theme in a lot of YA books, the drama, the main character being something rare and amazing and stuff like that.
But there are some real gems in YA books too, some that buck the trend and are really good.

YES i agree with u maybe books like the fault in our stars , or even hunger games for that matter are very unique concepts that even Adults ccan read.... i dont think it is wrong if Adults read YA books cuz some stories are appealing to Adults as well and if u r speaking abt the language i feel that story books are supposed to be read for their characters and story-line and the language used comes Secondary

Well I only read ya but of course I'm a teen..... I honestly couldn't imagine reading any other genre of books than ya
As an adult who reads YA I have to remember that I'm not the demographic, but there are times I feel like yelling at the main character who is usually female "Stop allowing that boy to define you and get on with your quest/self-discovery/etc."I think it comes down to the writing. There are plenty of YA books that are horribly written, but that can be said about any genre. There are some YA that I've read over and over again.

IKR?! :D
IKR?! :D

I absolutely hate YA books. I think that they're a disgrace to society because ALL ADULTS ARE READING THEM!!!!!
Ok, yes, some may be amazing (fads) but I still think that they lack the depth that you find in adult books. Can teens not accept that 1) lovable things happen and 2) very very sad things happen? I mean, really?!
