Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) Alone . . . Massachusetts State Trooper Bobby Dodge watches a tense hostage standoff unfold through the scope of his sniper rifle. Just across the street, in wealthy Back Bay, Boston, an armed man has barricaded himself with his wife and child. The man’s finger tightens on the trigger and Dodge has only a split second to react . . . and forever pay the consequences.

Alone . . . that’s where the nightmare began for cool, beautiful, and dangerously sexy Catherine Rose Gagnon. Twenty-five years ago, she was buried underground during a month-long nightmare of abduction and abuse. Now her husband has just been killed. Her father-in-law, the powerful Judge Gagnon, blames Catherine for his son’s death . . . and for the series of unexplained illnesses that have sent her own young son repeatedly to the hospital.

Alone . . . a madman survived solitary confinement in a maximum security prison where he’d done hard time for the most sadistic of crimes. Now he walks the streets a free man, invisible, anonymous . . . and filled with an unquenchable rage for vengeance. What brings them together is a moment of violence—but what connects them is a passion far deeper and much more dangerous. For a killer is loose who’s woven such an intricate web of evil that no one is above suspicion, no one is beyond harm, and no one will see death coming until it has them cornered, helpless, and alone.

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 54 comments I am starting this book today...I had to finish the grant county series before I started this one

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I just got word that the book is at the library, so I will too. Let us know what you think of it.

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 54 comments Ok So I finished this book last night. When I first started the book I wasn't sure about it but as I started to get further in I found I was really enjoying it. It turned out to be a great book and I have started the 2nd book in the series Hide (Detective D.D. Warren, #2) by Lisa Gardner

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I have gotten about half way through the book. Right now Bobby is talking the Gagnons. Frankly, right now I think this goes in the pile of NEVER TO BE READ AGAIN. I really think this is crap.

One of the things that turn me off to certain books is it has to be realistic. First, I seriously doubt that there is a law ANYWHERE in the states that a civilian could charge a cop with murder. If there was a law then why would a cop risk his life to save others? Then any cop that has some common sense would NEVER talk to the parents of the person he killed, especially since they are trying to get him on murder charges. COPS understand something about interrogations.

Sheri since you said this turned out enjoyable I will continue reading it, but right now I feel like returning it to the library. When did it start getting good for you?

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 54 comments Dee, I agree with you on many aspects of the book. It is not a book I would ever pick up again. It is very unrealistic. I enjoy the book but mostly I think because of Bobby's Character. I felt bad for him. I liked his character in the book. There was several times throughout the book that I thought about putting it down but since I hadn't gotten to the library to get any more books I continued reading it. I started reading the second one and only got 5 chapters in and I have put it down for atleast now. I was able to make it to the library yesterday to pick up some of the books in the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter. I am not completely sure if I will be able to continue this series or not.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) Sheri have you read any of the books by J.D. Robb. It is a futuristic cop series that I dearly love. Naked in Death is the first.

Since I am married to a cop, have several friends that are/were police detectives, and I worked for Department of Corrections for 12 years I sort of know a little about procedures. The in Death series is about a woman, Eve Dallas, who is a police detective. It is funny, warm, loving and the series makes sense.

Sheri Morell (smorell22) | 54 comments I have read all of them and waiting for Festive in Death. I have never been addicted to a series like I am with the In death series. I am apart of that group

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) Are you, so am I. That is what got me into goodreads. I have most of the books on audio and have Festive on order at the library.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) That is great. Are you doing the monthly BOM. I have to admit I haven't done it every month, but I did do last months, however that book I didn't have either in audio or a PB. I had to order it, but for some reason it was out so I had to wait till almost the end of the month. This month I was a step ahead I ordered it early and have already finished it.
