Suggestions for 8th Mini-poll
Since some people were interested in the idea of longer polls, I thought it may be a good idea to mix in a few. The typical poll will be 20 suggestions but this one can be 30 :)
An award winning book (such as Pulitzer, Newbery, Caldecott, Man Booker, Printz, National Book Award, national awards from other countries)
A book from the Goodreads Recommendations page.Do you ever use this feature? It is very interesting, but since I discover so many great books through this group, I don't have time for it.
A book about the events in another book from another character's point of view. For example, March by Geraldine Brooks is the story of the father in Little Women while he was at war and when he came home.
10 sor far.
Sophie > yes, I use the feature but I prefer to look at the listopias when I search by genre.

Debra > Would you be okay with "A book chosen for you from another member"? I'm sure people could request a certain length/genre but then people could personalize more.
Debra wrote: "A book that is chosen for you from another member with no more than 400 pages"I like this idea!
Debra wrote: "A book that is chosen for you from another member with no more than 400 pages"Yay! I suggested this in another poll but it didn't make the cut. I hope it makes it in this round.

I'm not sure how this works. Does each individual participant get a book to read that's been specially chosen for them by one other member? How do people know what we've already read before or can't get hold of for some reason. Some of us have to rely on libraries where the choice may be limited.
A book by an author that you've read before but weren't so keen on. (basically if you've read one book by an author and didn't like it then try another one of their books)

If this idea's chosen, the suggesting of books for others to read starts at the beginning of the year, but the actual week for this to be read will be near the end of the year. So there'll be plenty of time to specify suggestions, change minds, reserve from the library, and so on.
It's possible too to create a special shelf for "a book chosen by another member", and you'll ask that someone picks a book in your special shelf.

A Book about an animal/pet. I made this suggestion already but it didn't make it, so I'll try again :)
Ina > That was my mistake. But there are still 12 openings so feel free to suggest (and the announcement has been posted).
Jeanie > Many users also have plans posted, which would allow others to see what they typically read and suggest similar books in the comments section. I'm sure we could come up with a solid system :)

10 more suggestions to go :)
I think we can go ahead and open it up to the group. So if you suggested in the last poll then go ahead and post!

Stacey, I posted the suggestion you made in the other thread so can you pick one of the three? We're trying to keep it to one suggestion per user in each mini-poll :)
EDIT: someone suggested a collection of poetry but you can do either the "popular" book or the music/art theme

As this poll is longer and has more suggestions, will it be more than 4 topics that make it in or will it still just be 4?
Oh Laura, I LOVE that suggestion!! Maybe I'll shove Gone With The Wind in that category and actually get it finished this time!!

How it will work:
The topics for the 2016 RC list will be determined through 13 mini-polls. Each user will vote for their favorite 4 topics in each mini-poll, which will then add up to the 52 topics (13 polls x 4 topics/poll=52 weekly topics). Suggestions for each poll will be open for one week (or until 30 suggestions are received) and then opened up for voting.
Rules:
- One suggestion per poll per user
- If you suggested a topic for the 7th mini-poll, please wait 2 days before suggesting a topic for this poll.
Now that we are over halfway done (!) with the list, it's becoming more important to consider past selections. Please take a look at the current list before suggesting/voting.
