Staciel | 4 comments Hi all!

This weekend I saw an utterly marvelous theatrical adaptation of P & P in Spring Green, Wisconsin, US.. it was amazing, and it got me to wondering:

Oh, and here it is if you are 'local'

http://americanplayers.org/plays/prid...

There have to be other adaptations out there-- any one know how to find them?

My 10 year old daughter and I spent 6 hours driving to see this one, and it was well worth it-- and well, I'd make a habit of it if I could!

QNPoohBear | 740 comments At the Jane Austen Festival in Bath they do a two-person comic version of Pride and Prejudice. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet tell the tale with assistance from props. It was very very funny. I also saw a workshop (2013) of a two person Pride and Prejudice play. It was interesting to see two people play all the characters but it really worked. (All except Mary who was represented by her music stand). It brought out the humor in the narration too.

There have been numerous stage adaptations over the years. Most notably, the Olivier version of the movie was based on a comic stage play more than the novel. In the July/August 2013 issue of Jane Austen's Regency World magazine they reported a notice of a rehearsed read-through of Austen, a musical depicting Jane Austen's adult life at the New York Music Festival on July 27, 2013. The magazine also reported on Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser taking place in a production of P&P at the Guthrie Theater in Minnesota.

I'm sure there are more.

J. Rubino (jrubino) There is a Denver theatre company, Stories on Stage, that is doing an Austen program next spring; it will include selections from "Emma", Deborah Yaffe's "Among the Janeites" and our short story "What Would Austen Do?"

Nora (norasaric) | 1 comments Is this an annual festival? If so, do you know when it is?
