Started The Thirteenth Tale, and not quite into it, its slow and dry. Though I am determined to stick with it because I like mystery.

'Salem's Lot on the other hand I don't want to put down. I have always been a King fan

Lisa (ylisa7) | 53 comments I just finished Imperfect Strangers

I read this book as a BOTM group read and really enjoyed discussing this book with the author.

This was a very good book that delves into the mental health issues of the main character Keith. Overall Keith is a good guy but he has some serious demons from his mother and his upbringing. He becomes obsessed with his co worker Sally. She befriends him and the story progresses from there. It was a good story with some very strong characters.

I was afraid this would be similar to another book called You but thankfully it is not. Imperfect Strangers is much better and the characters are much more likable even though they are flawed. Where You is sleaze Imperfect Strangers is more creepy.

I am in the middle of listening to Everybody Rise. It has recently gotten some kind of rave reviews. So far I am finding the characters quite boring. It will take me awhile to listen to this as I have to listen to it in the car and I don't drive much. Aw well…it will be a very slow read in ore ways than one.

I am finishing up Ash which is OK but nothing great.

Then I am off to the library to pick up some new goodies:) today.

Lisa (ylisa7) | 53 comments I finished Runner by Patrick Lee last night. This was a buddy read for me and I really enjoyed it. If you like Lee Child's Jack Reacher or Robert Crais's Joe Pike give this Sam Dryden series a try. I have found a new author just what I need, lol.
Here is my review:

I also finished The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy which was another good one by Rachel Joyce.

I will be finishing up The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant today. It is about a woman who is born to immigrant parents in Boston in 1900. It is an interesting account of her life and times.

Next up is The Shed That Fed a Million Childrenby Magnus Macfarlane-Barrow. He is the founder of Mary's Meals.

You are I are reading in reverse.

I just started My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry and I just finished The Book of Speculation which started out good for me and then it kind of fizzled. I'd be interested to hear what you think:)

I know exactly what you mean by the book fizzling out at the end. Although I really liked how all the characters conected to the two different stories at the end. I wish the author would've explained more about the curse, or maybe I missed something. There were a few parts I was falling alseep though. Overall I would have to say the book was good, but not a rereader for me. What did you think?
As for My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry, I thought it was the complete opposite. I thought that book started out slow, other than granny, but started to get good at the end. I cant wait to hear what you think about the book. Have you read A Man Called Ove by the same author? I thought that one was pretty good too.

Lisa (ylisa7) | 53 comments I am halfway through The Memory Painter. I like the story so far. There are some interesting characters when the "painter" goes back in time. He paints his past lives.

"What if there was a drug that could help you remember your past lives?

What if the lives you remember could lead to your one true love?

What if you learned, that for thousands of years, a deadly enemy has conspired to keep the two of you apart?"

I did enjoy it and I'm pretty sure the curse was explained. Maybe it's too early or not enough coffee but I need to think on that, lol.

I really liked the grandmother in My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry. I wish there was more of a book about her, lol. I also really liked Elyse and how precocious she was. She certainly drove all the adults crazy in a good way. I also liked Ove..then again I like odd and/or quirky characters. At least they aren't boring:)

Amanda | 17 comments I am at the end of Crown of Destiny (World of Hetar #6) by Bertrice Small , the last book in a series I read a looong time ago. I like it well enough, though it feels a bit anticlimactic to me so far. I'll reserve judgement until the end though once I see how she actually wraps it up. There is definitely a good message about acceptance and insight into the process.

Alina (frozenlilstar) Invasion of Privacy (Deep Web Thriller #1) by Ian Sutherland and surprisingly it is a very good thriller.
