Hey Natasha, it is another long book:) but its really good! I'll start back reading it now Chuck. I'm up to page 80.
Angie, I know you have a bunch of long books going, I've got my hands full, so there's no hurry at all on this one. I think I'm right about the same place you are.Did you read the intro? Interesting story about the author, Jacob Perry. Have you ever heard of an author publishing another author's book in their name? This is the first time I've ever come across anything like this. Must be pretty good if Simmons thought it good enough to publish, though. I guess there's no other way he could've done it.
Speaking of Mallory, I read a pretty good book last summer about their expedition and the expedition that discovered his body:
.
It's funny, I didn't realize it until I was well into this, but the author of this book is one of the characters in the story. He's actually telling the story from his POV, but it's a novel. Pretty neat.
So far, and I'm pretty deep into it now, I'm not liking the way the Sherpas are portrayed. From what I know of Sherpas they're just opposite.
Sorry I've got a bit behind you but I'll hopefully catch up tomorrow. They've just been trying out all the new designed equipment, and the shock and horror Jake had when JC showed him the ice axes was great.
This wasn't what I thought it would be Chuck, not even close to a horror book. But I still enjoyed it, the Nazis were a reach, definatly not what I was expecting.

Where you expecting the abominable snowman? I thought it was okay, especially for a 90-year-old man that was probably on his death bed. I just think it was way, WAY TOO LONG. I rated it 2.75 stars.
I was expecting a proper monster type thing, like a yeti. When I got to part three and the screaming started, I thought 'here we go' but no, it was Nazis. I liked it though, and even with it being that long it didn't drag like Drood. What's The Terror like Chuck? I've got that waiting to read as well, and I don't want to start it if its going to be like Drood.
Angie wrote: "What's The Terror like Chuck?"Oh sorry, I missed your message somehow. The Terror, I thought, was excellent! Nothing like Drood or the one we just read. It's far and away my favorite Simmons book so far. You should definitely read it IMO. I've heard a couple complaints that it starts slow, but I really liked it. I gave it 5 stars. Simmons did a really great job incorporating the history of Franklin's expedition. I found all that fascinating.
From all the reviews of Simmons's books, I found out The Terror to be the best...and this is the only one I don't have, damn :)
I'm just not in the mood for his other long slow going books no matter how good they are.

Its good to here that The Terror is a great book, I'll probably read it in May now. I've got quite a lot of books to finish before then.
I'll need to keep The Terror in mind. Can't do it for a while, but I'll eventually get to it.
I'll buddy read it with you when you get round to it Cindy if that's OK with you:) its the same with me at the moment, I'm reading so many.
OK Angie, I'll try to give you at least a week's notice before I start reading it. Will that be OK?
That's more than enough time thanks Cindy:) I already own the book, its been sat unread in house for over a year now! Its unreal actually that I've not picked it up before now.
I'd love to join you gals on this one...if you take me ;) as this is the only Simmons book that I plan on reading in the nearer future (next few years lol)
Hey, good news, I DO have it!
Found it on my laptop...anyone needing the book, I can email it :)

Natasa - We would love to have you join. I will let you guys know about a week in advance before we start. It will probably be the end of the month. Is that too long to wait Natasa?
Not at all, I'm anyway a slower reader the last days as my duties for tourism preparing have started, just let me know and thanks that's so cool :)
Awesome. Don't let me forget. I am quite forgetful lately.
