Paul Robinson (robo3687) | 93 comments Hey guys,

Since I'm rather new to this authoring caper (Ghosts is my first extended piece of writing and I only started writing it 10 months ago), I was wondering if there'd be any kind souls out there who could look over the 8 chapters I've got up on Inkshares and offer some thoughts/comments?

Could be continuity, character issues, stuff that could be expanded, or even something as small as a typo. All help and opinions are welcome.

Here's the link to chapter 1 and you can get to the rest from there:

I look forward to hearing what you think and working to make it better.

Kris Calvin (kriscalvin) | 7 comments Paul,
Just read the first chapter of Ghosts of War, it's very well done, strong characters, dialogue that rings true, good visuals, and great ending! Left me wanting to read the second chapter, which is the most important measure of success
I have a few comments, nothing big, would you like those in a separate email/track changes or in this thread?
One tangential suggestion I have is you might want to monitor whether getting input at this stage energizes you or drags you down. Some writers find they are better keeping their work to themselves until they are all the way through a first draft (I'm one of those), while others like the give-and-take of sharing along the way. If the latter, you want to be sure your voice stays true—nothing worse than something that feels written by committee, even if each committee member is each brilliant in her or his own right.

Thanks for the kind words Kris. I think I've been hungry for some feedback for a while now, even if it is only on the first 8 chapters (I've got 27 written so far). I think I've got my story pretty set at this point, so I'm probably looking more for smaller suggestions to help make the whole thing better.

That said I'm completely in the dark as to what to actually ask for so I might as well just take what I can get and use what works and helps the story.

You can post them in here, but I'll message you my email address in case you want to do it that way.

Harv | 3 comments Hey,

I left a bunch of minor changes and suggestions on Chapter one, via the Inkshares excerpt tool. Mostly just small stuff or options for how to expand on the setting according to how a Reader might view it. Hope it helps you out mate.

thanks so much for that Harv, I'll take a look at them over the weekend and tidy things up.

and of course if you felt the urge to look at some of the other chapters, I wouldn't turn you away

Paul Robinson (robo3687) | 93 comments still looking for some feedback on the preview chapters for Ghosts, mostly the ones beyond chapter 1.

Also if anyone wants to leave a review on Inkshares it'd be appreciated, each one helps.
