When I Was the Greatest discussion

I read the book When I was the Greatest. This book was about was about a boy named Ali who lived in Brooklyn. He lived with his mom and sister. They were very close to the people in their neighborhood. They lived in a rough neighborhood and his mom was strict. He had two friends that he hung out with everyday. Their names was needles and noodles. Needles had a syndrome and sometimes he would get very angry. People in the neigborhood looked out for him. His brother noodles was kind of a trouble maker. He would always try to get over on people. They did not get in trouble that much. Needles did not get mad that often because he began knitting. Ali boxed with a guy in the neighborhood. There is this guy named MoMo in the neighborhood who threw big parties. The party was for people who were older and everyone was not invited. One day they saw MoMo''s sister. They asked her to sneak them in because she was at the door. They wanted to look nice for the party. They got hair cuts and Ali''s father got them clothes he sold in his car. They went to the party and they had a good time. Needles was the life of it. He was dancing and people were cheering him on. Ali met a girl and he went to the back with her. While he was in the back, a fight broke out. Needles was getting jumped and Ali went to help him. They were both hurt. Noodles did not help and he was the reason for the fight. Ali got introuble with his mom and he couldn't go no where. He found out that the guys he got into a fight with was looking for him and his friends. Ali's father paid the guys off. Ali and noodles made up.
I think that it was a very good book. I liked the conflict of the story. Also, the book was very realistic. Anyone in real life could actually go through problems like this. Also, this reminded me of the old street I lived on. I had friends that were brothers and we were always with each other. We were very close just like Ali and his friends. I thought that book could have been a little longer. I think there could have been more to the resolution. It was solved very quickly. There could have been more detail building up to the resolution.

I would reccomend this to any teenager. It would be good for people who like realistic fiction. The book was really good.
