Hey addicts, I've been seeing a lot of the same books and authors being suggested and talked about, and I'm sure most of us heavy addicts have read them by now...

Are there any lesser known authors or books that you have recently discovered? Post them here and tell us why we might want to take a chance on them too.

Kimiko Alexandre (kimi_alexandre) | 22 comments Sarra Cannon is amazing. Try our her Peachvill Deamon High books!

message 3: by Jane (new)

Jane Cousins | 23 comments I haven't seen much mention of Heather Webber's - Lucy Valentine series. Start with Truly, Madly Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine #1) by Heather Webber

Very light, sweet, with some cosy aspects - but sometimes you need books like these before you dive into something heavy.

Lisa Emme (Lisa_Emme) | 20 comments I'm really enjoying Hailey Edwards's Black Dog series. First book is Dog with a Bone (Black Dog, #1) by Hailey Edwards . Not sure if this is new to anyone else but I hadn't heard of it until recently.

Lisa Emme (Lisa_Emme) | 20 comments Another book I just finished is Ready to Were (Shift Happens, #1) by Robyn Peterman . It was so funny. I think the author is more well know for her mainstream stuff but she is self-publishing her paranormal stuff.

Linda Bloodworth (lindabloodworthauthor) As a new indie author, I'm curious, how does everyone discover a book?

A Raven's Touch

Honestly, Linda, after I read the new releases of series that
I have been waiting on, I search my kindle unlimited pages for something new. It may lead me to a book half-way through a series I havent read, the first book in a seies I have thought about trying but price was prohibitive, or to a new author.

I am one of those that if I like the first book will read the whole series. So, if there is one book in the kindle unlimited list and I like it, I will purchase every book in the series within a month.

I will also pull books from the "readers who liked this also liked" lists here on goodreads or on amazon/kindle.

The last place I find books is to look at what the authors of some of my favorite books are reading by checking out their author page here on goodreads. I figure if they write what I like I will probably like what they read as well.

message 13: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) I recently went through a steampunk phase and read this series: Steampunk Chronicles by Kady Cross

What else has everyone been reading?? I'm always in search of a new author to love!

message 15: by Mandapanda (new)

Mandapanda I love the Generation V series by M.L. Brennan. I don't think it's as widely read as it deserves to be.

message 16: by Dahrose (new)

Dahrose | 32 comments I'll second the mention of Semi-Charmed - fun read.

And you must try Jane Cousins Southern Sanctuary Series - LOL funny, the only other author to make me laugh so hard is Shelly Laurenston. Each book has great new couple, with lots of wacky, interesting secondary characters. Fun, sexy, action - the whole package.

To Woo A Warrior (Southern Sanctuary, #1 ) by Jane Cousins To Trap A Temptress (Southern Sanctuary, #2) by Jane Cousins To Wrangle A Witch (Southern Sanctuary, #3) by Jane Cousins To Seduce A Siren (Southern Sanctuary, #4) by Jane Cousins To Bedevil A Beauty (Southern Sanctuary, #5) by Jane Cousins To Date A Disaster (Southern Sanctuary Book 6) by Jane Cousins To Shackle A Shrew (Southern Sanctuary, #7) by Jane Cousins

message 18: by Knockin' (new)

Knockin' Books (knockinbooks) | 20 comments We're all about the indie authors and lesser knowns at Knockin' Books. We just read and loved Blood Hunger (Deathless Night Series #1) by L.E. Wilson : http://www.knockinbooks.com/reviews/b...

And I'll jump on the bandwagon with Semi-Charmed (Harper Hall Investigations #1) by Isabel Jordan and its sequel Semi-Human (Harper Hall Investigations, Book 2) by Isabel Jordan . Our reviewers loved both books (they are a laugh a minute!)

message 19: by Tyler (new)

Tyler (tyland) | 7 comments I don't hear a lot of people talk about Seven Years (Seven, #1) by Dannika Dark I loved the series. They were pretty fun

message 20: by Paulette (new)

Paulette I like Mark Henwick's Bite Back series: Sleight of Hand (Bite Back, #1) by Mark Henwick
I also really enjoyed Laura Resnick's Esther Diamond series: Disappearing Nightly (Esther Diamond, #1) by Laura Resnick

message 21: by Liz (new)

Liz | 7 comments I just read Memoirs of a Girl Wolf, it's a new book by a new author so not a lot of people had read it, but it's really good. It needs editing, but the story is suspenseful, surprising, and entertaining from the first to last page. The characters are also great. Strong female protagonist. It's about a wolf shape shifter but it also deals with real life issues--kind of reminds me of the early seasons of Buffy and the high school issues they focused on through different monsters. I'm excited for the next book--there's still a lot that needs to be answered.

message 22: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Wright | 7 comments I am a new unknown author and would love for you to take a look at my debut paranormal suspense, Song of the Ancients. It's getting great ratings/review here and on Amazon, but it is so hard for a debut small press author to get widespread readership.
If you take the time to look and/or read...thank you Song of the Ancients (Ancient Magic #1) by Sandy Wright

message 23: by Megha (new)

Sallie Griffin (salliebelle) Check out Bianca scardoni!

message 29: by Lacey (last edited Aug 01, 2016 08:59AM) (new)

Lacey (she2beautiful) I started reading Bind the Soul (Steel & Stone, #2) by Annette Marie by Annette Marie which is the second in her Steel & Stone series. It's supposed to be a YA series but it reads much more like an adult novel would. I flew through the first novel and now I'm practically done with the second, it's an amazing series. I discovered it through Goodreads and I also have Kindle Unlimited which helps me discover lots of authors that are not as well known.

If you mean the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning then you might like J.R. Ward, Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, C.E. Murphy and Michelle Sagara.

They write PNR and Fantasy. Another REALLY great book is Uprooted by Naomi Novik

message 31: by Knockin' (new)

Knockin' Books (knockinbooks) | 20 comments There's now 3 books in the Harper Hall series. I can vouch for them all. Funny, sexy paranormals.
Semi-Charmed (Harper Hall Investigations #1) by Isabel Jordan Semi-Human (Harper Hall Investigations, #2) by Isabel Jordan Semi-Twisted by Isabel Jordan

message 32: by Charlene (new)

Charlene I read Braile House last year when it came out. It was the debut book by a new author, James Wayne King. It was one of the best paranormal books I've ever read and truly kept me on the edge of my seat. Enjoy! It really was terrific!
