The Assassin's Curse Re-Read discussion
General Chat
Hi, Caroline (and everyone else)! My name is Zemira and I'm from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I've read The Assassin's Curse in January and the two novellas so I'll be joining you with The Pirate's Wish which I still haven't read because of... well, I'm not sure why not but I'm glad I'll have some company this time. :)
The first CRC book I've read was The Mad Scientist's Daughter and I fell in love with the story and decided to read her YA novel. At first I wasn't so sure I'll like it because it's written for a whole different generation of readers but it seems Cassandra can write for pretty much anyone.
Hello!I haven't read either of the books but am going to do so on Caroline's recommendation; looking forward to getting to know the story and the characters and all of you!
Uzma
Welcome Zemira and Uzma! Very excited to have new readers on board already, and Zemira, I hope you get some new and interesting insight into The Assassin's Curse the second time around.
Uz, why don't you add a bit about where you're from; I think it'd be great at the end of the Re-Read to see how far Cassie's books travel :-)

Hi I am Paul. I live in Wimborne, in the beautiful county of Dorset. I read a fair amount, of most genres.I am here because of Caroline's invitation. Looking forward to the book, if I can find one
Hey there! I'm Craig, a life-long Texan, currently (clap-clap-clap-clap) deep in the heart of Texas (Waco, to be precise). I'm a math teacher at a private school and I read quite a bit, mostly mysteries and science fiction/fantasy. I haven't read these books yet, but I'm looking forward to them.
Hi! I'm Amanda, the editor of these books. I'm going to be joining the re-read as well, because it would be nice to go back and rediscover these novels without having to pay attention to all the details - read them as a reader and not as an editor :-)
Hola! I'm a MASSIVE fan of this duology. I've re-read Assassin's Curse & Pirate's Wish a few times (including the novella The Witch's Betrayal- a Naji prequel that is a MUST). Can't get enough of these two books.
Hey! My name is Ryan. I am in love with this duology. I have also re- read it a few times already. They are two of my favorite books of all time and have a special place of honor on my bookshelf. I have already read the Wizard's Promise and can't wait to read the Nobleman's revenge. While it did not wow me as much as the Assassin's Curse duology, I still adore Cassandra's writing. I am from Alabama and I am a college student.
Welcome everyone! Perhaps we should start a discussion on the two novellas also? I'll open a board and we can avoid any possible spoilers for those who haven't read them!
Hello! I'm Anastasia and I live in California. I haven't actually read The Assassin's Curse series before, so I'm really excited to join along in a group reading. :D I found the first two books while shopping with a Kobo coupon earlier this month, haha! The covers drew me in at first, and then after reading a few reviews I decided to go for it and buy them both. I ended up getting the novellas, too!
I mostly read fantasy/scifi/mystery, in all age brackets, though I also like a good memoir or biography. I'm currently working as a library aide and I do most of my reading during my 5 hour round-trip commute (I still can't believe it's that long, omg). It's nice to meet you all!

Welcome Anastasia! The covers really are just beautiful; they're by the fantastic Sarah J. Coleman and you can see more of her work here: http://www.inkymole.com/
Ouch, that's a long commute! Our Angry Robot Senior Editor has a similar length commute - and mine is 3.5 hours round commute...lots of time for reading / audiobooks :) Hope you enjoy the books!
I should mention that the Annanna duology was the first - and second - books of SC that I read when I joined the company, and I am very much looking forward to re-reading them again purely as a reader and without the pressures of a new job!

Cassandra Rose Clarke here, and I just wanted to say welcome to everyone who's joined so far! I'm really excited to be hosting the reread and I can't wait to get started. For those of you who've already read the books: Hurray! So glad to see that you enjoyed them enough to read them a second time :) And to those of you who haven't read them yet: I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
Hi Again:I'm from Canada, Vancouver by way of Edmonton to be exact :) I'm a fantasy buff (mostly adult), but I enjoy a good book regardless of genre...actually I devour books...it's a problem!
Devouring books is never a problem :-) It's something to be treasured! (I am totally guilty of it myself as well!)
Me too! Picked up a copy last Friday from the library. Have four to finish by the weekend, so won't get to it this week
Hi!! I totally loved both of these books and am excited to re-read them!!! I can't wait to read her other books too!
Hello! I'm Natalie! I read the Assassin's Curse a little over a year ago. I first bought it online because I LOVED the cover. Then I read it and was like "wow, how great is this?" Then came the long period of waiting for The Pirate's Wish :( Not a good time to remember XD SUPER PUMPED to reread them! Thank you for this awesome group!
Hi everyone! I'm Mathilda, I currently live in a very marshy area of teensy-weensy belgium; and I'm in for the re-read! I loved both the Assassin's Curse and the Pirate's Wish. I was actually thinking of re-reading them not so long ago. But group-reading sounds even better! Congrats to Cassandra Rose Clarke and her team; I'm very impressed by your writing, and I'm looking forward to the next one! Cheers!

Hi everyone! My name is Cheryl and I live in Ontario, Canada. The Assassin's Curse was recommended to me by my local library, and I fell in love with the characters and the author for the wonderfully detailed world that she created in this book. I haven't read the 2nd book yet, so I hope that there won't be any *SPOILERS* but if not, I still will look forward to reading it. I have added Cassandra Rose Clarke to follow on my Twitter account too~!
Hello, I'm Raina from Indonesia. One of my friend (I forgot who) shows The Assassin's Curse and The Pirate's Wish and I instantly fall in love with the cover and the font of the title. Lol... yes, I'm that kind of person. So I read the first book, and turns out it doesn't disappointing me. I like it, and like the second one even better :P
Hello, I'm Carly and I'm from Wisconsin! I saw The Assassin's Curse on goodreads one day and was taken with it. Pirates, assassin's and magic! Yes, please! I didn't read it for the longest time though because I'm really hesitated about buying books and my library didn't have it. Until after reading several good reviews and a gut feeling I bought it and fell in love. Then I ran out and got A Pirate's Wish. The duology sits proudly on my bookshelf now!
hello! I'm Ronmae and I'm from the Philippines. I've read both books a few months ago when I was in my steampunk phase. It was a looooong wait after I finished Assassin's curse and I was soooo excited when the Pirate's wish came out. I've reread the books twice before and I'm just glad to reread it again.
Hello! I'm Monicha (said just like Monica) and I am from Canada Northern British Columbia, small town called Hudson's Hope. I am a super big fan of the Assassin's Curse and the Pirate's Wish. And I am SO excited to read them again!! Thank you for putting this all together!!
Hi, I'm Rob from Derby in the UK... I have finally received my copy of The Assassin's Curse and will start reading it this very evening. Was convinced to join the re-read by Caroline (Not that I took a huge amount of convincing, I'm a sucker for any story that involves either pirates or 'haughty manticores' - And this has both!) - I promise to do my damndest not to steal any ideas for my next book that features pirates.
I'm Rachael and I'm a teacher (ESOL) in East Tennessee. I just read The Assassin's Curse in one day last week when we had spring break. I had so much time and once I started I just couldn't stand to stop. Our local library didn't have The Pirate's Wish, so I "had" to order it (and obviously the first book too) from Amazon. They just arrived in the mail this afternoon and I can't wait to get my house work done and get started! I heard about The Assassin's Curse from Goodreads' recommendation to me based on other books I'd read.
I'm Tanisha from Texas currently in Florida. I found a blurb for Assassin's Curse and went to find and read it immediately. I think the universe was smiling on me because after I flew through Assassin's Curse I was able to go straight to Pirate's Wish. I love these books and am always recommending them to friends. I always catch myself going to reread them. I can't wait to do so again and actually have other people to talk to about them!
So many new members, welcome everyone! I'd love to know where you all heard about these books? I've already mentioned that for me, it was through work, but what about you guys? Did you hear about it on a blog, read a review, see it here on Goodreads? Do tell!
I found the books on Goodreads and very happy that I did. I love mysterious/magic/action/romance kind of books. So that's what I was looking at and then The Assassin's Curse caught my eye and then ordered it online and shortly after the Pirate's Wish. One of the best choices I have done!

Thanks Monicha! I love hearing where people find books - and considering our GR Re-Read, isn't it wonderful that's where you found the books in the first place :)

It's super helpful and easy to find a book you like.
I am also super excited for this re-read! Just like reading it the first time again. LOVE!
It's finally re-read day! Be sure to head over to the Chapters 1 - 3 thread to start the re-read discussion!
I just tried to post a direct link but haven't quite fathomed the html coding; you'll find it under the main heading of The Assassin's Curse Re-Read! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Oh, well there you go. Thank you very much Kindle-aholic.
Yup!Definitely thanks Kindle-aholic! And Monicha for coming up with the question that was bugging me too. I'm the biggest dud when it comes to working with the internet-I think my four year old son will soon know how to manipulate it better! Sorry, off topic!
Just for people's reference, I always make a post in the discussion topic to bump it up to the top on the day the discussion starts, although yesterday I was working and got to it a bit later than usual.

Like Paul; I have to admit, I had to do some catching up with some other stuff- and I'm now plunging back into the Assassin's Curse. I'm enjoying this re-read, and I'm definitely not dropping out! I'll be back on track in two days, I think! Cheers to you all :) And once again Cassandra: thanks for your wonderful world!
