Liz (liz_the_librarian) Well, the votes are officially in, and we will be reading American Gods. We'll have the next couple of months to read the book, and then in November, we can begin discussing it here on goodreads. The Library currently has two copies of the book and one audiobook version on CD. I will see about getting additional copies so that everyone can get to the book in enough time.

I will post an introductory thread in November, and from there, anyone can feel free to create a thread so that we can get some good discussion going.

Then, at the 52 Book Potluck on December 7, we can discuss it face-to-face.

And not to forget why we are all here... What are you reading this week?

I had a wedding to go to in Maine over the weekend so I haven't gotten much reading in. I was able to catch up on Saga through hoopla, so I finished the first four volumes. If you like epic space stories, I highly recommend this one.

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments Or you can get a paperback copy for 7.99 (the same price also for a Nook book).
This past week, I started reading Daring Greatly by Brene Brown (who wrote the forward for Amanda Palmer's The Art of Asking). I also read Sway by Lauren Dane, and Silver Mine and Diamond Dust both by Vivian Arend, and am finishing Arrow's Fall, the last book in the Arrows Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey.
I put a few books on hold and 3 were here when I got in, so I'll be reading those next: Black Swan Green by David Mitchell, Stories: All New Tales, edited by Neil Gaiman, and Interworld, also by Neil Gaiman.
Daring Greatly How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown Sway (Delicious, #1) by Lauren Dane Silver Mine (Takhini Wolves, #2) by Vivian Arend Diamond Dust (Takhini Wolves, #3) by Vivian Arend Arrow's Fall (Heralds of Valdemar, #3) by Mercedes Lackey
Black Swan Green by David Mitchell Stories All-New Tales by Neil Gaiman InterWorld (InterWorld, #1) by Neil Gaiman

Jodie Reha I am so scatterbrained in my reading lately! I become uninterested in a book and then start another, only to find 8 books on my bedside table and 2 on a shelf at work that are started and not finished! At work, we get unedited advance copies of books and one of them caught my interest, enough to go back and read the first one before the second. Not sure if it's a series or just a continuation of what happens to the main character. So, I am now reading these 2 books (and will someday finish the others, usually in a frenzy of reading just to get them done!) Me Before You by Jojo Moyes After You (Me Before You, #2) by Jojo Moyes

I'm so excited to be reading American Gods. :)

As for current readings... I jumped on the bandwagon and read The Martian. The first few chapters didn't impress me, but once the viewpoint switched to Earth, I was hooked. It ended up being a great book (as everyone here has stated). Now excited to see what they do with the movie.

I also read the new Star Wars book, Aftermath. It is supposed to help set the scene for "The Force Awakens" which comes out in December. Mainly, it sets up new characters and new plot lines for other books. It was still pretty good, if you can handle present tense.

This week, I'm working on Evanovich's The Scam and How to Read the Solar System.

Liz (liz_the_librarian) The Library will be getting additional copies of American Gods. As soon as those come in, I can reserve them for whoever needs a copy. Just let me know you need one so I can hold onto a copy for you.
Thanks!
