Corban's friend Dylan and his father leave for home early on. Dylan explains that his da is tired.
The couple pledge themselves to each other and as is customary, the loremaster is to tell a tale of the husbands choosing.
Marrock chooses 'The tale of Cambros.' When asked why such a tragic tale on so happy a night? Marrock responds 'Any tale that tells how I came to be born in this land and so meet my bride is not a sad tale.'
The tale is about the return of men to what they called 'The banished lands' since they were driven away after the Scourging.

The battle raged for two days... (you can read the rest ;-)
As the evening ended and folk were heading home there was a red and orange light flickering far away.
Gar yells 'To horse, to horse!'
When Corban asks why Gar shouts, 'Darol's Stockade, boy. It burns.'
