The final month of read-alongs for the awards and I'm a total Saga n00b, but I'm glad I've finally begun to read the series at last. It's a richly textured adult space opera centered on a mixed-race couple and their newborn daughter who find themselves linchpins in an ongoing war between their respective races' homeworlds. The snarky dialogue often gets to be a bit much, I think (Brian K. Vaughan has clearly burned a hole in his Firefly DVD), but there are some magnificent visual concepts and character designs, with sympathetic characters given convincing motivations. Occasionally the art strikes me as too sketchy and in need of more precise rendering. Mostly I'm finding it delightful and I'm eager to see where it goes in this volume.

Matt Carl (pressenter) | 55 comments As I posted elsewhere, I read all 4 volumes in quick succession. I like the series, but I think the 4th is the weakest. I can see where it sets things up for later, but it was far less interesting to me than any of the previous 3 volumes.
