Hi Matthew, Sorry I'm a little late on replying to this thread, but I wanted to tell you that I completely agree with your comment about how there was something about the style of writing that can get under one's skin. I also found it a bit of an "uncomfortable read" due to the style and because there were a few times when the perspective changed (e.g. random omniscient POV) and it didn't lend itself to consistent style throughout the story. I think there was potential for this story to be delivered differently that would have made it more powerful.

I am so glad I read that book. It wasn't at all what I was expecting. But it was so beautiful I can't stop thinking about it.

It seems like the reviews on this one are either "It was great" or "It was so-so". Very divided.

Totally late on posting this, but thought I'd share regardless...

I'm glad that this one came up for the group read. I likely never would have come across it otherwise and I really enjoyed it, though fully understand why it is polarizing based on comments I'm reading through now. I feel like the author is just getting started in fiction, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what she releases next.

While it wasn't my favorite, I would give another book by this author a try.
